Well a front loading washing machine will consume less water when compared to the top loading ones. At times even the wash quality is better in the front loading ones.
Top loading washing machines are favourable to elderly as they may have trouble bending but otherwise front loading is fine and would be a better buy.

I think front load washers are by far the best.
1 They use less water which saves on your water bill
2 Most use less energy, which saves on your electric bill
3 They get clothes cleaner
4 You can put more in
5 Almost all are oversized, which means you can wash pillows, blankets and comforters instead of taking them to the drycleaners
6 They do not have an agitator in the middle that delicates can get rapped around and stretched out or ruined
7 And most are stackable which saves space
8 They do not get thrown out of balance
9 They take less detergent
The downside is they are a bit more expensive. I have owned both and will never have a top loader again.

Front load washers are better b/c they use less water. A top load washer uses up to 50 gallons per load, while the front load only uses 25 gallons. One is able to wash up to 25 pairs of jeans in one load or sleeping bags. The RPM's in the spin cycle helps to get your clothes dryer so when your clothes are in the dryer it will take less time in the dryer, which helps you save money on the electric bill. LG has a washer that has a steam clean option too, which cleans garments that have to go to the dry cleaners too.

The top load is the much better choice. Because the front load have a greater chance of leaking then the top load. My mother had a front load. But not for long. Because of the leaking. And she said it did not get her closes clean. I hope this info helps

Front loaders are best for a few reasons. First is that they use less water than top loaders so it's better for the environment. Second, you can fit more clothes in a front loader so you actually have fewer loads to clean and third, front loaders are easier on your clothes - you won't notice as much wear and tear because the drum rotates instead of agitates like a top loader.
I bought my front loader 2 years ago and have loved it!

I prefer side load because they don't get off balance like the top load washers do. I also like that you can stack things on them, and build them in, since they don't have to have any top clearance.
They have downsides too. They don't usually have a middle post like the top-loads, and that helps wash the clothes better (it is also harder on the fabrics.) You have a much harder time adding clothes once you have started the load.
I lived in Europe for quite a while and all they have is side load, now I prefer them, but I currently have a top load.

Agreed, it does use less water and about 1/3 the soap - it also gets your clothes cleaner. I just got a front load a couple of months ago after using top loads all my life and really notice the difference.

We have a front load, and we like it because it can wash like 30 pairs of jeans in one load. We could never do that with the top load...

Front loading machines. They consume less detergent and water, are gentler on the clothes and are fully automatic with spin drying included. They however require permanent plumbing to be really effective.

Personally I like the front loader, cleans better and uses less water. But to judge for yourself go to the laundry mat and wash some clothes in both front and top loader, that way you can judge what you like and not what others like.....
Good Luck.........
