Yep, kept my key on a chain around my neck. My sister and I would walk home from school and let ourselves in. We would eat our dinner that my mom left for us on the stove, do our homework, get ready for bed and wait for her to get home from work. Let's you know how simple things were because these days I'd never leave my kids home alone all day.

Yes, and while in college I wrote a small research paper on the 'phenomenon'. Each of my 2 kids at different times are/were latchkey.
Hey, pathfinder, I was a child during the 50's (when I began my Latchkey career). My REAL parents, having survived the Depression were both employed full time.

Yep, after I started Jr. High school
My brother would get home a little after me and we'd make like..3 PB sandwiches each and watch the comdey network XD
