Seems all we need to do is go in and arm and pay rival drug dealers to capture arrest and detain a majority of the leaders and dealers .
Its the same program Bush is cheering in the press today of arming former murderers of our troops to take down other terrorists .

This is the most sickening thing I have ever heard of . Its like handing a weapon to one of a group of home invaders to defend you against the others after they have kiled two kids and your wife . Anything to keep yourself alive .and in Bush's case the war going .

It's not a new strategy. 'Divide and Conquer' goes back to Alexander the Great. You're giving Bush way too much creadit, there.

It is a sad mess. Unfortunately this may be the only way to stop Americans being killed and maimed, and to allow Iraq to become a relatively peaceful nation. The reason we are remaining in Iraq is to destroy Al Qaeda there. But we take many casualties from the various Shiite and Sunni militias who just want foreigners -- both American and Arab -- to leave their country. If there is a way to unite these nationalists, and for them to destroy Al Qaeda and build a nation, then we should pursue it. Battling all these groups will never accomplish a satisfactory outcome. The Baaths and all Shiites have always been enemies of Al Qaeda and all groups wanting to force extreme Sunni Islam on whole nations. We have few friends in Iraq; enemies of our enemy is the best we will find and making these groups our allies is the best hope for a conclusion with positive outcome in this war against many enemies. It does seem horrible to arm militias who have killed our sons, but we knew this was the likely outcome when we chose to invade. Nobody should be surprised by the situation we are now in and it is sad that we had no plan to win and exit. At this point we must face the current reality and find a way to bring peace to the people of Iraq. If Iraq can become a successful and peaceful nation then, and only then, will our good men and women have died for a worthy cause.

The Afghanistan war lords love Bush and his war on terrorism! Their cash crop of opium and popey have never been so big and easy to export into the U.S. I think Bush is the terrorist!
