Well, since Global Warming is going to either 1) warm up the oceans too much to sustain life or 2) alter the salinity of the oceans to a point where current species will be rendered extinct (pick one), Al just figured that he might as well treat his buddies to a little taste, while they're left. After all, since they're going to be extinct anyway because of Global Warming, what's the harm in munching down a few dozen now?
