What do you think of Evelyn Kenzie? for a girl

2007-07-18 06:01:31 · 29 answers · asked by Anonymous in Pregnancy & Parenting Baby Names

Kenzie is the middle name McBain is the last. I thought a Scottish middle name would have to go good beside a scottish last name.

Evelyn Kenzie...

It could work if Kenzie is the last name. But if Kenzie is the middle name, it sounds hyphenated when you say it together (as if speaking real fast or saying the name as if she is in trouble)...

Evelyn-Kenzie!

If Kenzie is a middle name, then Mackenzie or MacKenzie would sound better with Evelyn, because it is more casual sounding and the "Mac" sound is a nice pause...

Evelyn MacKenzie.

With that name, you can call her Evelyn and give her two nicknames, "Mac" and "Kenzie".

Update:

Evelyn McBain
Evelyn K. McBain
Evelyn Kenzie McBain

When I listen to it, it's almost there. It has a nice rhythm to it. The syllabaic rhythm of saying "Evelyn Kenzie McBain" together sort of sounds like "Follow the yellow brick road" from the Wizard of Oz.

But my ear is seeking for a middle name with a single syllable sound because the first and last names both have two syllables.

But your heart is set on Kenzie, so sing her name like "Follow the yellow brick road" in the Wizard of Oz.

"Evelyn Kenzie McBain"

"Evelyn Kenzie McBain"

"Evelyn, Evelyn, Evelyn, Evelyn,"

"Evelyn Kenzie McBain"

I really like Evelyn, not too fond of Kenzie. Evelyn is a name that will grow with a little girl.

I've never heard of Kenzie as a name before but I like it! The first and middle names are strong but feminine

I love it. I think it’s a beautiful name for a girl. I am also pregnant and in the process of picking names so I thought I would look up the meaning of both names for you, which are:
Evelyn (English) Hazelnut
Kenzi (Scottish) light skinned or (Irish) a short for of Mackenzie

I think that Evelyn is good if it is a family name otherwise it sounds like an old lady. I just had a baby girl a week ago that we named Berklie Ann. I had more people say they didn't like it than those who did.
