That is cool that you had a child on the 29th. of February. You have a very special child. Legally you can not change his birthdate, but you can ask him what day he would like to celebrate his birthday since we only have leap year every four years. I would also explained to him that god gave him a special birthday and that we will have a big blowout every four years on your actually birthday and all the other years we will celebrate your birthday on the day of your choosing. Hopes this helps.

I wouldn't do that! I think it's really cool to ahve a birthday on Feb 29!! I don't know how old he is but, if he's old enough to understand that there is only a Feb 29th once every four years then tell him that and when he asks why, give him the answer in a way that he can understand. look on the web, find other kids who are born on feb 29th. have a feb 29th birthday club!! don't alter his birthday!!!!

The birth certificate is not about his birthday in the future, it is about the day he was born which was Feb. 29th. You can't change it to March 1- it wouldn't be true. I'm sure he can figure out that he was born the day after February 28th, whatever day that is. Maybe every 4 years youcould have a really big blowout.

Why alter his birth certificate? Just celebrate his birthday on the 28th or 1st. Heck make a big deal of it when you can actually have it on the 29th. Thats a special privelege.

No, just explain to him he has a special birthday. You can always celebrate it Feb 28 or Mar 1. Why do you think you have to alter a birth certificate? It's a rare special thing he can be proud of.

No but you can tell him that only very special children get to change the date of thier birthday and then ask him - whether he wants it on the Feb 28 or March 1st so that there is special date esp. for him each year.

Your child was born on 2/29.
One year(365 days) later, he will be ONE YEAR old. The date will be March 1st.
One year later, March 1st again. 2 Years old
One year later, March 1st again.
One year later, Feb 29.
His birth date was and always be Feb 29, however, sometimes it Falls on another day. Just like yours or mine.

Why would you do that? That is unique and pretty cool. Let him know how special that is and celebrate it! He was born on Feb. 29 and he can celebrate on March 1 or whenever he chooses.
