Atom comes from the Greek word atomos, which means indivisible. This is when scientists thought the atom was the smallest building block of the world.

Atoms consist of 3 subatomic particles. Neutrons, Electrons and Protons. An atom has an overall change of zero. Electrons have a negative charge, neutrons have a neutral charge and protons have a positive charge of the same magnitude of the electrons negative charge.

At the center of the atom is the nucleus, this contains neutrons and protons, giving the nucleus an overall positive charge. Electrons orbit the nucleus with a variety of different paths. The electrons are attracted to the atom by an electrostatic force meaning to remove one would take energy, this is called ionisation.

The smallest atom is the hydrogen atom, is consists of one proton and one electron. As you move along the periodic table the mass becomes larger as the number of the electrons increases, electrons are added onto more shells that surround the nucleus. Therefore to keep the overall change of the atom neutral, the number of protons has to be equal.

Everything is made up of atoms.
Atoms are made of protons, electrons, and neutrons.

For right now, they are the smallest item anything can be divided into. Some want to say that the 3 parts above are made of quarks, but that is not a scientific law yet.

Protons and neutrons are in the nucleus and make up most of the weight of the atom. Electrons orbit around the nucleus. Protons have a positive charge and Electrons have negative. Neutrons have no charge.

The number of protons determine what element the atom is. 1 proton is Hydrogen, 2 is Helium, 3 is Lithium, and so on. Look at a periodical chart to see them all.

When atoms come together, they form molecules or compounds. Water is a molecule: 2 Hydogens and 1 Oxygen. That is why we call water H20.

In the centre of the atom is the nucleus, which is like a ball containing the neutrons (which are neutral in charge) and the protons which are positive. The number of neutrons in an atom is its atomic number. This is usually the same as the number of protons and electrons, but not always. The electrons are negative and go around the nucleus like the rings on saturn the planet. There are electron shells containing different amount of electrons. As electrons are negative and protons postive, if there's an equal number of electrons and protons, the atom will have a neutral charge. If they are unequal, it will have a positive or negative charge

Each element in the world has a different number of neutrons. Yes they are real... atoms make up everything in the world around us. In solids they are rigid, in liquids quite flexible and in the air they are individual and zoom around. You are completely made of atoms!

The "God particle" is a media friendly call for the Higgs boson, that's a particle theorized to offer mass to different debris - with the present understanding of physics we want the Higgs boson to describe how mass exists. The particle is known to crowd around different debris (very like how a properly-liked guy or woman is surrounded at a celebration), the extra Higgs bosons surrounding a particle the extra mass it has. The LHC (particle smasher) became created to optimistically discover the Higgs boson, via smashing collectively ions at extensive energies and analysing the outcomes we may even see the tell tale signatures of the Higgs boson as expected via theory. If the Higgs boson is got here across we are able to understand how debris get mass and be nearer to explaining the workings of the universe, albeit nevertheless an prolonged way from explaining how the universe began. in simple terms because of the fact technological know-how can not clarify the universe yet that's no reason to doubt its approaches.

Its real, and too long to discuss here. Check out Wikipedia on atoms.

No one can tell you completely about an atom.
We are studying about it since last 10 years and still we dont know much about it.
And yea.... its not just IMAGINATION.
Its a DAMN REAL THING.
