The question:
What is the molarity of a solution when 9.65 g of CuCl2 is dissolved in 2525 mL of solution?

My answer:
0.15 mols CuCl2 / 2.525 L
I think I'm right, but I can't afford to be wrong.

No! No! No!

Molarity = Moles/Liter!!!

So IF you are correct that it's 0.15 moles, then you need to divide it by 2.525 to get the molarity!!!

So it would be 0.0594 M.

Let me check your calcuation to make sure you didn't screw it up:

Atomic weight Cu: 63.55
Atomic weight Cl: 35.45

Molecular weight CuCl2: 134.45

(9.65g) / (134.45g/mole) = 0.0717738 moles!!! How did you get 0.15???

Now the final answer is 0.0717738moles / 2.525liters
= 0.0285 M.

well i got a different answer to you, but im not sure if im right either. I will show you my method so that you can compare it will yours.

Moles of CuCl2 = Mass / Mr
Moles of CuCl2 = 9.65 / 133
Moles of CuCl2 = 0.07 mol

Concentration = moles of CuCl2 / Vol of solution
Concentration = 0.07 / 2.525
Concentration = 0.028 M

Thats the answer i got. I hope that i have helped.

I think the molar mass of CuCl2 is 134.5 g/mol

So, divide 9.65 g by 134.5 g/mol to get 0.0717 moles

Divide that number of moles by the volume (in Liters) to give you the molarity.

M= mol/V

you need to first conver2525ml to L and 9.65g CuCl2 to mol

2525mL= 2.525L
9.65gCuCl2= 0.0725 mol (9.65 / 133g)

0.0725 / 2.525L = 0.0287

your answer is wrong.

the molarity is 0.0287

9.65g CuCl2 x 1 mole CuCl2...= 7.18x10-2 moles CuCl2
........................134.452g CuCl2

7.18x10-2 moles CuCl2/2.525L= 2.84x10-2 M

Moles = mass/mol.mass
CuCl2 Mol.mass = 63.5 + 71 = 134.5g/mole
9.65g/134.5g/mol = 0.072mole.
Molarity = moles/litre
0.072mol. ÷ 2.525L = 0.029mol/L
