lets just try to answer the question please. I didn't ask about showing support for our troops, an entirely different situation.

I know there are many ways to show support for our troops. That was not what i asked about.
But regardless, I have yet to see anyone saying we can support our troops by sending them back to Iraq.

Such nice words coming from someone who probably considers himself patriotic.

Hopefully, people are not joining the military with the sole purpose of showing support for the war. The military wants people that want to serve their country and want to become trained professionals in whatever military specialty they end up in. Although, I support the war, I can't re-enlist, but that doesn't mean I can't do things to support our troops. Even those ineligible for military service (or additional military service), can show support in other ways; like send a "care package" with things like antibacterial wipes, toiletry articles, sun screen, candy bars, etc; you can send a thank you card to a soldier in the field; (Your local VFW or American Legion can probably help you get this done). Most of all, when you see a soldier, sailor, airman or marine, thank them for their service and pray for the ones that are currently in harms way.

If you truly belief in the cause of the war, in this case terrorism in Iraq. Yes. But to show support for the troops who are fighting in Iraq the answer is no. The war and the troops are two different entities. The war is an ideology that Iraq needs our support so that terrorism doesn't flourish. Weather you believe that ideology or not, the troops are the ones fighting because of that ideology. To quote Dalton Trumbo "For democracy any man would give his only begotten son". The only question is: Is the ideology for the war , for democracy?

That's one way. Other ways would be to volunteer at your local VA hospital, hold fund raisers to buy artificial limbs for returning wounded soldiers, help families with soldiers in the war by doing their shopping or yard work, buying flags for your town to put up on veteran's day, buying flags for the VFW to put on graves and how about writing letters of support to the men and women far from home. There are many things you can do.

The worst way would be to ask for another tax cut so you can buy a newer SUV. But that's just my opinion.

Yes, but you can also show your support to those who are enlisted. I think people should be more appreciative of the soldiers, regardless of their own, egocentric opinions of the war. No soldiers want to hear negative opinions. They're not out there busting their asses for you to sit around, do nothing but ***** about the mismananaged war.

let me guess - the conservatives are all saying "No !"

of course that's a lie. they won't support the war in Iraq by going their. that would be asking to much.
they just want to give lip service.

Well, yes it probably would be but not everyone is able. That's why you honor those who do enlist.

no. Only those of us who disagree with this war should go serve. At least, that is what they have told me today...to go die in someone else's place. Nice country, right?
