Actually, some wo.en do grow beards or facial hair. It depends on hormone levels. Older women may grow more facial hair as a result of perimenopausal changes.

Because we don't have as much testosterone as men do! Some women do end up growing beards or other facial hair when they go through menopause due to drops in their estrogen and progesterone (I think that's what it's called!). As the first answerer said, some women do grow beards (BEFORE menopause) and this is probably due to a higher level of testosterone in their system than what is normal! Hope this helps to answer your question - take care!!!

PS I did have one friend who had a mustache and she had to get it waxed all the time or else it was real thick and dark. She also had a totally out of control sex drive, so I think she had LOTS of testosterone running through her system!!

There is more estrogen than testosterone in their bodies. If the levels change women can grow beards. Many women get a lot of chin hair and a thicker mustache after menopause, when estrogen level drop.

Mainly genetic code. And Hormones.

Actually there is a genetic trait that does cause women to grow facial hair.

Poly-cystic syndrome causes some women to grow some facial hair as well.

The secondary sexual characteristics like facial hair (beard etc.) are defined by the female sexual hormones in women and by testosterone in men.

Some do. Hair growth on the face is a "secondary sexual characteristic" and is controlled by hormones. Women with hormonal imbalances can have significant facial hair growth, even requiring daily shaving.

Women don't have beard because their bodies do not produce male sex hormones.(Testosterone, an androgen, the principal sex steroid is responsible for facial hair.)

Testosterone my friend. That's the hormone responsible for manliness and women have very low levels of it, by nature. Of course, they can take it artifically and they will grow facial hair.
