I'm not trying to say that it isn't a sing..I'm point it thats it is referred to as a deadly sin

Also the bible says that if one does not work than they shall not eat

soooo, all the slothy overeaters are clearly looked down upon in this the old testament...

how come we aren't jumping on a hate bandwagon for them?

Could it be that they are forgiven because in the new testament Jesus came and changed everything and we ALL have the potential to be saved no matter what weve done..

also was it Jesus who not got outraged and said

Let he who is without sin throw the first stone

hmm?

Religion is full of double standards.

The Bible contradicts itself many times.

You shouldn't worry about the Bible and the religious zealots, just focus on yourself. Just with the knowledge you have there, you are that much better than they are.

I completely agree with you on the basis of the hypocrisy, but I don't think it helps to smear one group to save another. Fat does not automatically mean gluttony! They get bashed just as much as gay people. If anything, the greatest hypocrisies of right-wing "Christians" are materialism in general and the conflation of religion with politics. Being fat doesn't make someone a right-wing Bible-thumper (or a glutton). Appearance is not a legitimate standard for judgment.

It is not OK, but when have we ever heard Rev. John Hagee or Rev. Jerry Falwell preaching about gluttony? Never! It's always easier for them to pick on other people while acting holy and special.

The difference between homosexuallity and gluttony in America is a big one - 65% of the population is fat. If the church came down against fatness, that would be the end of the church.

Here, this is God's system. Everybody has to deal with pain; Women have babies, and men have to deal with women.

God doesn't hate gays; he doesnt like them because they found a loophole in his system.
Men wouldnt have to deal with women if they are gay, and women cant have babies if they are gay.

In that sense, although I am straight, I still feel that it is wrong for anyone to bash someone's preference. I feel (as a Christian) that if two people are in love, despite their sexual preference, by all means they should be allowed to get married! It's a free country after all, right? =]

And how is it ok to be fat if gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins?

You have a beautiful, beautiful point. Interested to see how this goes. Some of the fattest people I know are pastors or extremely religious.

Churches don't give you a test to keep gays out. Quite the opposite. Churches welcome people who are troubled and living their lives outside the teachings of the church.

They are hospitals for sinners, not hotels for saints.

You are right sir, gluttony is a sin. More people should be concerned about it. It is not however justification for any other sin, which many feel homosexuality is. Two wrongs never make a right.

Hmmmmmmmmm -

Well have you thought of gaining weight, being gay, and having everyone accept you?

Maybe that is it, the Church doesn't like skinny gay people!

Religion is sanctioned hypocrasy. You're not going to change anyone's mind by pointing this out however, as religion is also sanctioned ignorance.
