You ovulate one day and the egg lives about 24-36 hours after ovulation. You should have intercourse the day of ovulation or the day before, or both, to increase your chances of conceiving. The best way, if you don't use ovulation test kits, is to have intercourse every other day for at least a week during your ovulation time.

BTW sperm live about 3 days, up to five days, with the female sperm lasting longer. If you can pinpoint your ovulation, don't have intercourse too early otherwise the sperm will be dead before it can reach the egg. Always make sure to follow up with intercourse the day of ovulation to increase your chances of conceiving.

Most women ovulate one time each cycle and the egg usually lives about 24 hours. So in reality you have about a 24 hours window to get pregnant each month which equalls out to be about a 20-30% chance each month. To better your odds you need to determine through basel body temperature charting when you ovulate each month and have intercourse starting about 3 days before that because sperm can live up to 5 days inside you. So the idea is to always have a "fresh" supply waiting on the egg during the 5 or 6 days around your typical time of ovulation. Some women ovulate more than once and that is how there are faternal twins in this world. Good luck.
