How old are you?

I cannot believe a doctor put you on depo at such a young age.

I was on it for four years and I'm so glad I'm OFF of it, I would never ever recommend this to anyone.

You could bleed through the whole three months of your depo shot.

Tell your mom to google "depo provera lawsuit" and check out this site and read the reviews about depo: http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-control-methods.aspx

Some women don't have a period the whole time, others spot, and others have heavy periods. The heavy hormones in the depo affect everyone differently. I was on the shot for less than a year and it completely wreaked my system. I was bleeding for two months straight at one point. and I stopped taking the shot about six months ago and have yet to have a period. The EXTREME mood swings, weight gain and such made me stop the shot. I strongly recommend that you take no more shots. It could mess you up seriously. there are better alternatives out there such as the pill, condoms, or even (gasp) ABSTINANCE (gasp).

Depo will do this. They should have stated to you that you would have symptoms like this and that sometimes you won't have a period or you could have a looong period. I would def not use depo at a young age, more and more they are finding things that are wrong with depo, I would discuss the nuvaring it's much more lower in the medicine that you need and you have a period every month like a normal woman. This is only the beginning of your depo hell. Be prepared for more such as blotchy skin being super moody... it's ok

Nothing's wrong technically. Not everyone will have immediate and complete menstrual cessation. You might be just one of those who cannot take the shot, in which case you probably should consider changing your method when your 3 months are up. Tell your mother however so that she can make an appointment with your gynecologist and make sure that everything is ok (because you COULD potentially become anemic if you bleed too long).
