If someone's going to get bitten, it's me. Do some people have a type of blood chemistry or temperature which makes them more likely to get bitten? Any biologists with a scientific explanation welcome, thanks.

Everyone gets bitten by mosquitos. However, those that get completely attacked do so because when they first get bitten, their body releases a scent which the mosquitos find appealing and they keep biting and biting and the more they bite the more your scent is released. Your friend with no bites has been bitten but because of their lack of scent, the mosquitos gave up and then moved back to you.

It sure seems that way, doesn't it! I don't know of anybody that's done a real study on this, though. I've heard many possible ideas for what mosquitos home in on - CO2, heat, scent, etc. All I know is that when we're out together, my wife gets ignored and I look like I'm furry from all the little buggers on me.

Biting mosquitoes are female - they need blood to nourish the eggs they are about to lay. Coincidentally enough, female humans are more attractive to mosquitoes because their blood has some nutrient they are short of (not hormones).

i think they pick up on scent from people. on our first night in Ibiza a few years back,i got savaged with them, and i must have had my mouth open ,cos they even got me on my tongue.but the wife and kids emerged unscathed, and i have ,like i said, heard its something to do with body odours,or perfume /aftershave you emit.
