2 and 1/2 weeks and now i have almost a full lawn it has grown so good. I used top soil and mixed it with the dirt and laid compost and leveled it then I laid seed and fertilizer is this why it grew so good?

I guess you did good.
Just make sure you water each day so that it will not dry out.
Normally, you should seed in the fall.
Being it is summer, you need to keep it hydrated well.
The problem with seeding in the summer is that it grows quickly but does not establish enough roots to keep it alive in the winter.

you did exactly what you should have done... most people can't be bothered to go the extra mile. You, however, did and now have a fab lawn....
