Kahlil Gibran gives us sagacious advice concerning matters of the heart: "Love one another but make not a bond of love. Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls." A sense of freedom is essential for you at this time.

Don't bind yourself to someone because you love them. Don't let love be your only reason for being close to someone. There is an appreciation of one another that goes beyond the boundary of love, which is limitless. Not that love has boundaries, but there is more to a relationship than love. It is giving and taking, sharing and allowing compassion and caring to take a seat in your relationships. The focus of only love will leave you bound. The infinite values of a relationship, whatever the level of seriousness, is one to explore. This is not referring to just the male/female relationships but all relationships you encounter in your life, even if it is meeting someone on an elevator. Allow your love to flow free and other things will accompany it to bring you fullness that love alone can not fill.

That's how I would reflect upon that passage. You can take what I and others have written and use them for a springboard to formulate your own meaning. No one is absolutely right, including myself. Based upon your own life's experiences, you will have your own spin on these things. Explore your heart and soul for your own answer. It's there for you to find.

To me it means more of bonds of friendship than actual love. Its basically saying that you may not be ready for the kind of commitment that love brings. The sea changes all the time, its never the same depth, never the same weather, and there are never the same occupants all the time. This I think is suggesting maybe to be free and just be a little, for lack of a better word, promiscuous with you love and giving of love until you are ready to give all of yourself.

love one another but not to the extent that it smothers you and everything you do, but rather enjoy and savour the love and share the enjoyment between the two, being free to love and explore that love between the two is essential.

just my opinion. lol

Simply, it means that loving people should not restrict each other too much. Instead, one should give freedom to a person who he/she loves. If you hold him/her too tightly, you risk to lose your love. No one likes to be too limited.

Let there be growth in your love for one another. Love doesn't get to one point and that's all there is... there is always room for more.
