What are some of the Pros and Cons of living in colorado?!?! I have never been there but am really considering moving there in a year or two. I think it is absolutely beautiful.

I currently live in northern NJ right outside of NYC. I like the area in general b/c of the convenience of having everything so close. However, I really just want a change...the area is so congested and traffic is a pain. I mainly want a more relaxed, outdoorsy atmosphere. Plus, the cost of living here is absurd in NJ!!! I could get a beautiful house in the suburbs of co for the same price as a nj house in ghetto areas.

If anyone knows anything about Louisville, Co...that would be great...based on their website...it seems like a town I would like. Suburb towns would be good if you know of any others....i like the location of Louisville though. I am only 23 and would be moving there on my own without knowing anyone...but I like family-type communities.

Hi there!!

I lived in Edison New Jersey for many years of my life. I made the same move you are planning to make, and I must tell you I am thrilled I moved to Colorado.

I would not suggest Louisville. It is a long commute to the city, and since you are relatively young you might miss some of the nightlife.

I would suggest some areas in denver that have a relatively suburban feel, yet are still close to the city.

Littleton Colorado is a very nice town, with a cute main street, and a large nature preserve right near the city. The preserve is great for biking etc. Littleton is also great because it has a commuter train that runs into the city. You can buy a 2/3 bedroom house in littleton for 200,000.

I would also reccomend Washington Park. It is a trendy neighborhood with suburban style houses, but it is just minutes from downtown. You get all of the nightlife, etc, but you don't have to live in a tiny loft. It is expensive, but property taxes are nowhere near as bad as jersey!

Louisville is not a bad town, but it is a long commute to the city... It's even worse with snow!

I live in Colorado Springs. The first advantage is definitely the Denver Broncos! Colorado is growing VERY fast. It seems like everyone form CA is moving out here. If you are an outdoors person you will love it here. Obviously there is a lot of great skiing. You wouldn't live very far from Blackhawk, CO which is very nice little gambling town. If you are a partier you are right next to boulder, the university of Colorado, hugh party school you wouldn't have any trouble finding a party. There is a lot to do in Denver as well. There is always sports if you are into that. There are A LOT of events that come to the Pepsi center, which is where the nuggets play. There is also the 16th street mall in Denver, it has a lot of nice shops and many good restaurants. I know in the springs you can get a very nice 3 to 4 bedroom house for around $200,000, dont know about Louisville. Colorado also has great weather, we get sunshine almost every day. When it snows, unless it was a blizzard, it only sticks on the ground for maybe a day. All in all CO is a very nice place to live and raise a family.

Not terribly familiar with Louisville, CO in particular but the commute into Denver from the burbs is getting heavily congested. The area you are talking about is one of the fastest growing regions in the country. Also, keep in mind that the area you are talking about is near the mountans, but not directly in it them - you are at the edge of the Great Plains and these suburban areas are flat as a pancake. All that said, I like Colorado and you would be close to skiing and hiking in the Rockies. You definitely would be getting more for your money in terms of housing too.

I m from New Jersey as well and i hate it here. Too much traffic, too noisy, over populated, people are nasty always hating on each other, poor air quality, way way too expensive, and the list goes on. I m currently in college working towards an Education degree/Exercise science to become a gym teacher and soccer coach. I ve been debating whether i should leave sooner and finish college in Colorado or just finish here in New Jersey and then move out there. I definitely want to move to Colorado. I m an outdoorsy person i snowboard, love snow and enjoy the mountains in general, mountain bike, hiking, off roading, camping, kayaking basically all outdoors sports and activities. Ive never really been a city guy despite having been born and raised in one. I don t want to raise a family here.

Do it. We moved here from Hightstown, N.J. in 1991. The only regret we have is that we didn't do it sooner. We live in Castle Rock, about 30min south of Denver. Just voted by Family Circle Magazine one of the top 10 family friendly towns in the U.S. http://www.townofcastlerock.org
The weather here is great 300 days+ of sunshine, low humidity .15-20% Most winters are mild Days 30-50 and sunny . again low humidity, so it's not that bone chilling cold. Friendly people who actually will smile and say good morning or whatever.. Great schools. I can't say enough good about Colorado..I'll never move back to Jersey . Even hate to go back for a visit. Pack your wagons and come on out.
