Hi all,

Last week, I made the mistake of testing for ovulation at different times of the day. For example, on Tuesday, I tested in the morning (like a dummy), on Wednesday in the evening (and got a light line/positive), and on Thursday evening I got a dark line, positive.

So this begs the question: Is it possible that I ovulated SOONER than Wednesday? My line on Thursday was definitely darker than the dummy line, and darker than Wednesday's line, but I'm still wondering since I didn't test at the same time each day. Help!

Also, I had cramps most of Thursday evening, which I attributed to ovulation, and BD'd that night. I also BD'd on Tuesday night.

So, do you think I correctly isolated my ovulation for Thursday night/Friday? Or do you think I missed the boat? On the other hand, I did have sex on Tuesday.

LOVE to hear what you think about my chances and what I've outlined above. THANKS!

Actually it doesn't sound like you got a positive reading. OPK are different than pregnancy test. The line on the OPK has to be DARKER or at least as dark as the test line.
Figure out how long your cycles are and then you will know when to begin testing. You will test for an average of about 5 days. Make sure to test about the same time every day. Most test tell you the best time to test is between 5-8pm. Ty to limit your liquid intake 2 hours before your test. When you get an actual positive reading...DO NOT test anymore! This will only confuse you and make you second guess when you are ovulating. When you get the positive it actually means you will O in 13-36 hours. The day of the positive begin having sex every other day for 5 days and then two days in a row. So have sex on days 1,3,5,67.
Good Luck!!

You can use an OPK at anytime each day. Some doctors recommend testing morning and evening because in just 12 hours you can miss your positive test result. The line has to be at least as dark as the test line or darker for it to be counted as positive. The OPK detects ovulation about 24-48 hours before you ovulate so you need to have intercourse shortly after your first positive test and at least every other day after that for about 10 days. A more accurate way to determine if ovulation occurs is to chart your basel body temperature each day. Your temperature is typically lower before ovulation and then shoots up and stays up after ovulation and until your next period and then drops down again(unless you get pregnant then it stays up). After your temperature goes up it is usually too late to get pregnant but after you chart a few months you will see a patern develop and will be able to determine approximately when it is happening each month. Buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" or do some online research about temperature charting because there is so much more to know and you can learn so much about your body that you wouldn't know otherwise. Plus it is cheaper than buy the OPK's. Good luck and the best way to get pregnant is to be educated on the whole process.

i don't really know, from what i have read about this the darker the line the closer you are to ovulation, i think? So if you had a real dark line on Thursday night that meant you would ovulate about 24 hours from that time..... its so confusing, isn't it? I had a positive test on Monday night at 5 that was the same color as the test line so i figured i would deff ovulate today but no cramps, yesterday had tons of little cramps on my left side so maybe i ovulated yesterday and not today - i spose all you can do is guesstimate your ovulation date with the tests and have sex during that time. It sounds like you hit your peak times with the baby dancing so hopefully your body will take care of the rest! I'm going home at lunch to baby dance today to cover all my bases..... plus we danced last night too! I swear I'm gonna fertilize that freekin egg!!!

I think that you hit it about right. As long as you had the correct cervical mucus, the sperm were still alive witing for the egg. A women in her twenties, with no fertility problems has a 25% chance of getting pregnant each cycle. So if this is your first month trying don't be to dissapointed if it doesn't happen. I hope it does though. Baby dust to ya

You ovulate anywhere from 12-36 hours after you get a posiitve result. This means that you ovulated probably on Thursday.
