The netherlands has very few drug laws, and they have the fewest number of hard drug addicts in Europe, and the most hard drug addicts in rehab in Europe. Cannabis doesnt have to be taken with tobbaco, and although it has carinogens in it that can cause cancer, the THC means that altogether smoking grass (obviously tobacco does counteract this) means you are thirty percent LESS likely to get cancer, as THC kills weak (eg cancerous) cells only.
Noone has ever died of cannabis overdose, and it doesnt affect intelligence in the long term. THC does mean that brain damage is (slightly) more likely, but cannabis also has CBD in it, which is better at preventing brain damage than most perscription drugs, so if cannabis was legal strains could be made that actually reduce the chance of brain damage. Cannabis is the third least addictive of all recreational drugs.
Also the argument about stronger cannabis being available is poor - just like vodka being up to 12 times stronger than beer you just drink less of it. tobbaco (should be class B if system was done properly) and alcohol should be class A if system was done properly) are both much more dangerous than cannabis, but the government makes money off them.
Prohibition simply makes more crime, and makes otherwise law abiding citizens mistrust authority.

Cannabis smokers are treated here in the UK as the drivers of the drug world and are constant victims of attack by the do-gooders of society.
Cannabis is a naturally grown product and does not cause the user to mug, rob, rape, molest or indeed commit serious crime and should be left well alone.
Concentration instead, should be paid to the users and dealers in Heroin,Cocaine, meth etc which are far more dangerous and, cause far more problems than cannabis.
Cannabis is not addictive I know this because,I have taken it all my life.

Good news Charles Clarke has stated that he will not be reversing the classification and he states that educating people of the dangers especially to mental health is the way forward ......"HEAR HEAR."...I missed the announcement in Parliment but I would imagine it was met with cheers and applause as too much money is wasted on this archaic law that was put in place to stop the hemp industry becoming a real alternative to fossil fuel, the law has nothing to do with dangers to society it is purely a commercial one.

Well I will ALWAYS USE CANNABIS and will do so when in UK regardless. The UK govt. needs to look at the awful state of affairs in Britain with alcohol. Cannabis is harmless and so are the people who use it. This classification crap is a joke. In short I for one, along with a huge following will NEVER obey any anti cannabis laws in UK or anywhere. Makes me more determined to acquire it and oh how popular that can make me to be !! Hey Gordo.Brown...hi honey , I'm back !! ( fer now ) and yes, I am ** STONED ** immaculate ***.

Why doesn't something like this or abortion get put on vote? So instead of politicians with agendas deciding our fate we can do it directly??
I smoked for years. And I mean Smoked, 24 hours a day for about 6 years.
Then moved to a country where it's highly illegal. So I stopped. Just like that! Now once a year i go to Holland and smoke.

The powers that be have no idea. its all just to win votes from middle England and daily mail/express Nazi readers. The police don't even deal (!) with pot smokers anymore, it's not worth it. Cannabis can lead to other drugs but so can living! I have taken all sorts of drugs for 24 years and have a good job, good relationship, own my house and have loads of friends the same who nearly all take drugs regularly! stick that in yer pipe and smoke it ya uptight fekkers!

Legalize it, don't criticize it... (Quoted from a Reggae Dub Demi-God)
More tax-payers' money going into chasing, processing and punishing people for something that is morally no worse than having a strong cup of coffee to make you feel more awake. My body, my choice what I put in it. Drugs are not immoral, they can't be, they're merely substances. The problem starts when humans use the use of drugs as an excuse to act like complete arseholes. The world's favourite legal drug, alcohol does that infinately more than canabis.
Sick of the bleedin' moral dictatorship.
