"The fear of the Lord" is the first gate of arrival in our journey from a particular perspective. It implies a recognition of God as being powerful & incomprehensible as compared to our self. It is the place where one begins to "follow the law", but as yet still live in a state of perceived separation. It is the place where surrender begins, but that surrender will transform & change motivation & intent as knowledge & then Wisdom is acquired. It is the place where taming the ego first begins as one attempts to "follow the law". It is not a permanent residence however, from there we move to Grace where the outer law in a sense no longer applies because we have become the law. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts." This happens when perceived separation begins to be lost & Unity is Remembered. The catch is (There is always a catch LOL) that one is never outside the law if one is capable of breaking the law. That would imply separation rather than unity. Also, that is why "do what thy will is the whole of the law" is also greatly misunderstood & abused. In biblical terms "fear of the Lord" is the old covenant. The new covenant is "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Unfortunately, most misinterpret this because they approach it from a perspective of still being in a perceived separation & "fear of the Lord". Great Q! Many Blessings!

Ego

That's the word that comes to mind when I think of fear. I think it's our ego that creates all these fears within us.
