i am probably going to get a Polish Falcon tattoo in the inside of my right bicep to show my Polish heritage. the outside of my right bicep will likely be the American Eagle from the Harley Davidson logo. i was born and raised in the U.S., my father was born and raised in Poland and came over when he was 16, my mother was born and raised in the U.S. but both of her parents both emigrated from Poland.

what do you think?

Well, it's not a falcon, but an eagle. Falcon = sokół, eagle = orzeł, and the bird on the Polish emblem is commonly referred to as the "polski orzeł".

I suggest not getting one. Very few people have them, and the ones in Poland that do can be neo-nazists. You certainly don't want to be associated with their group and considered a racist, "white pride" extremist (if you ever go to Poland).

If you don't go to Poland and interact in Polish societies in the United States, people might view the tatoo in many ways. First of all, they might think it quite silly for you to have one, with the fact that you were born in the United States. Many also follow the logic that if you don't speak Polish fluently, you're not a Pole. So, with a tatoo like that, you might become a wannabe-Polak. Others might see you as a hypocrite for having a Polish and American tatoo at the same time, as many Polish people value their patriotism and criticize America as a whole. Some might support your statement with the two patriotic tatoos, but they most likely will be people also of second- or third- emigrant generations.

Well, that's just a little social evalutation.

If you really want to show your Polish heritage, learn the language (unless you know it already) and travel through Poland to see the land of your ancestors in all of its beauty.

It's a crowned eagle, not a falcon. Also there were many designs through history, so you might want to check the type which appeals to you best. Bear in mind that some designs have political history attached to them.

Mind you, I think the tatoo is not really a good idea. Not because of the pictures you choose to show but because of the risk of hepatitis infection. Also bear in mind that having a tatoo means closed career opportunities in quite a few fields- both in civilian and military life.

I definetly applaud your pride in your ancestry. I suggest however that you show it with deeds and actions and not with words or pictures
