don't worry maybe by friday it won't be as heavy, I know girls who have worn a pad in the water with board shorts to help it stay in place. Usually too your period flow slows down when you are in water.

Since it's so heavy in the beginning, it'll probably be lighter in the next couple days. But u cant stop it. If you wanna swim you really need a tampon. Use tampax pearl, they go in easy. Get Slender or regular. just get them and practice until ur comfortable with them and the day of the party you should be fine.

You should be able to swim during your cycle if it is still going on, as long as you use a tampon. If you are uncomfortable with tampons due to discomfort from the applicator, use an OB, it has no applicator, it is small, and easy to insert. Think about it, there are women in the Olympics who swim and I am sure there are plenty of them who must go on regardless of their cycle.
Hope all goes well for you.

Well, I ordinarily wouldn't suggest this for somebody your age, but you could get a pack of the small pull up briefs adults wear and wear it under your suit, if it's not a bikini. Otherwise, there are some incontinence pads which would probably hold enough for at least an hour at a time, just change them frequently.
However, I suspect by the time you get this answer, your problem will be over, since a lot of times the first day is the heaviest. And I'll bet by Friday it'll definitely be a lot slower than today.
Happy birthday!

hi hun. You only have 2 choices. Go to the party but don't go swimming or use a tampon. There is really nothing wrong with using one. I'd almost bet that once you use them you won't want to use anything else.
Good luck & Happy Birthday!!!

Really short of wearing a tampon you'll just have to stay out of the water. Pads will leak and blow up when wet. Maybe just buy the slim fit (by Friday you're cycle should thin out) and practice in the meantime.

Happy Birthday!
There are a few alternatives to consider besides tampons. One is a mini-pad (no wings this time around) affixed to your suit, and a fresh one right after you get out of the water.
Dark colored suit or bottoms. Black or chocolate hides blood well (and beach "tar" from off-shore oil refineries).
Except when you're in the water, wrap your hips with a towel or sarong, again dark. If any trace of blood is on your legs before you get to the bathroom for a fresh minipad, this will hide it.
Remember, too, that immersion in water stops many girls' and women's periods temporarily. For some, it's so strong a reaction that it even stops in the shower. Find out if that's you by cleaning really well externally, then taking a bath.
If you don't swim at your pool party, it's no big deal.

Well, I'm just like you but I don't have a party... I want to go swimming, but here's the different part, I don't know how to ask my mom... my sister wants to, so I think I'll ask my mom now, so I would have to agree with the others, tampons or nothing, or you could just ask your mom. Well, I just wanted to help.

Oh bless ya! If you are determined to go swimming I think you're going to have to give in and use a tampon. Please don't be afraid of them. If you get used to inserting them between now and Friday and let yourself become accustomed to them. Relaxation as you are inserting one is the key! Don't give up on the first attempt - its an art when you're a novice at it. Follow the instructions on the leaflet - try different positions til you find what suits you.
Enjoy your party.......... ;-)

Use a tampon or don't swim.
Water DOES NOT stop a period. It just washes away the blood.
A pad won't work. It will soak up water and blow up as if you were wearing a diaper.
The rule is no tampon=no pool.

Tampon or no swimming.
Your period will NOT stop in water (it gets dispersed so it only LOOKS like it stops or slows) and you will be one embarrassed girl getting out of the pool with blood running down your leg.
Get the slenderest tampon with a plastic applicator and read the pamphlet.
