I keep scratching my nuts trying to figure this out. They have no oil, they are a significant burden on our national economy amounting to 1 Trillion USD since the 1970's, our major oil suppliers i.e. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and othe GCC countries have no relations with them so...why do we have such unwavering support for these people?

Supposedly they are a friend in the ME. But with all the problems they and the Palestinians have - it's impossible for us to justify the levels of support we give them. My theory is we should treat them exactly like we treat everyone else. Enough of this blatant favoritism rubbish, it only causes more trouble.

I can't think of any use they are to us. The relationship is all give, no take.

I had a Poli. Sci. professor who liked to say that the US relationship with Israel is explainable by the fact that they have an important export: The Old Testament.
