any research for a biological cause for empathy and psychic ability? also what is the limits of empathic ability? also if you were the most powerful empath in the world wat abilities would manifest and how strong?

Well, I don't know about research but I'm an empath and I grew up in an abusive home, having to keep my senses out all the time in order to stay safe. I'm positive it had something to do with it. I have the ability to not only feel the emotions of others, but to pick up energies in the air around me. I can walk into a crowded room and pick up the "atmosphere", whether it's simmering with an undercurrent of anger or pumping with fun that makes me want to boogie with it. I pick up the emotions of others through the internet (I'm very sheilded when I come around these threads), and have even picked them up from friends who live across the world. And I can tell you what they're feeling.
What are the limits? I don't know. The most powerful empath in the world would be able to walk into a room full of people and not only sense the one person whose depressed but be able to single them out and tell you exactly what he's feeling. It would be exact, not just a guess.
Telepathy can also sometimes (but not always) be part of empathy. (Yes, I hear other's thoughts, but what I sometimes have trouble doing is distinguishing them from my own).
Theres actually a list out there of 10 levels of empathy that I've seen that would give you a great idea of what it is, but unfortunately I can't seem to find it. But if you're inclined, take a gander around this board: http://empaths.tribe.net/

Yes, they say the penal gland (the third eye) is the cause for this phenomena. Back in time before language we humans (and animals today) had to guess what the other person or animal was going to do. All animals give off a vibrations including us. That's way we and animals can feel positive and negative vibration. did you every wonder why you (or your animals) were friendly with one person and not another, its their vibe. There is no limit to empathic ability, the only problem is we as humans have a tuff enough time dealing with are own emotions, let alone all the worlds at the same time. And if you were the worlds most powerful empath, you would be in the nut house from all the different feelings and emotion that would be running through your head. 90% of the worlds empaths are in fact in the nut house, if you don't believe me go there, you'll see what I'm talking about!
If you feel you have empathic powers, stick to one on ones using it. Crowds will make you go nuts and feel uncomfortable. Trust me.

I am sure that biology does play a role in ones psychic abilities... As to how ones brain is wired up...........................
