i understand everyone goes through hard times but jesus. wash off the black eyeliner take off the black t-shirt and open the blinds in your room, after taking down some of the band posters off your walls. you're only depressed bc you're making yourself that way.

While some emos , alot even, may embody everything you just said, that is not always the case. Firstly, not all emos cut, nor are all cutters emo. Alot of cutters are preps, or punks, etc. They were clothes that arent always black ( are u confusing this stereotype as emo when ur thinking goth?), who doen't have band posters? And emos may be extremely emotional, but they are not depressed 100% of the time, though they may be depressed easily. People have the right to be how they want.

personally, I don't understand it either but I do know that "cutters" say that the cutting relieves stress. Maybe there is a bio reason for that. I get that depression is a bio issue and I don't understand but I am not willing to judge them because I haven't walked a mile in their shoes. Yes they are hurting others around them, I am guessing but so do a lot of behaviours such as alcoholism or drug addiction or criminality in general. Sometimes I wonder if people don't have enough to do in life so they focus on their selves way too much.

It's a generational trend... like the hippies. In ten or fifteen years they'll all be gone, grown up, and wonder about how retarded they were. A few will carry on, but they'll fade into the background just like every other lifestyle trend that's passed.

Deppression is a sign of underlying issues and should not be taken lightly. becareful about judgment or generalizing that its their own fault. They are not screaming for attention rather a major cry for help. Please dont ignore the warning signs you may find things are not as they appear and someone may end up dead. Because they are not taken seriously.

I am too personally, but that's how they want to live. I'm not going to judge others based on the lifestyle they live. They may all think that we're crap in comparison.

it's just history repeating itself.
emos are like the new romantics for the 2000s
chavs are like the skinheads for the 2000s
goths are still just goths
punks are still just punks
bikers are still just bikers
ofc they're all slightly/alot different because of the new era, than they were when the various sub-cultures first kicked off
