Armed Forces charity decided to buy a £ 1.7million 6-bedroom house nearby Headley Court military rehabilitation centre so visiting relatives would have somewhere to stay. Of course they need wheelchair ramps- for the disabled.

The well-heeled neighbours in Ashtead, Surrey, launched their own offensive (note the same moronic petit-bourgeoisie who'll jump to defend ethnics, PC & multi-culturism)
The Nouvea Riche have flooded the council with almost 100 letters of protest, raising every conceivable objection to the new property being used to house families visiting soldiers.
One resident even objected on security grounds, claiming the house could become a terrorist target, while another suggested wheelchairs would present a fire hazard.

Unfortunately it gets worse:

Residents' association chairman Malcolm Webb, a 58-year-old oil executive, denied residents were 'nimbys';
"This is just the wrong place and the wrong property," he said. "Some are concerned - in these awful days when these ghastly terrorists go after the softest targets - about the security situation."

My views include too many expletives to be typed. Bastards will suffice.

Typical petit-bourgeoisie.
Compare the behaviour of the nouveau-riche to the real country gent/aristocrat. How many hospitals have these bourgeois visited?

A friend sent me a link to this question because she knew it would annoy me and get me ranting. She was right (and if she is reading this and has any brownies, I wouldn't mind one).

I've done the rant, loudly and at great length, but am still annoyed. What utter utter bastards. Bless them, they don't want to be terrorist targets? Everyone in London is currently a terrorist target, Christ, more then that. Everyone in this country is a target. God forbid it should be one of their children injured or disabled, but no, rich kids don't pay the price for wars. They're worried about traffic volumes? To a six bedroom house? Its hardly going to divert the M25 is it?

Money doesn't buy a soul it seems, or morals.

Most annoyingly, I live in Surrey. These people are close enough to me to almost be called neighbours. ****-wits.

And to hell with the Daily Mail. I used to hate the Sun, but now I don't, its jsut written for idiots. The mail is for people who know its not right but go along with it anyway because they can afford to make it seem right and manage to convince themselves in the process

It happens like this far too often.
Recently in my town a local childrens hospice were planning on building in a certain area of town but have ben repeatedly stopped by NIMBYs.Each objection had similar "problems" with the siting of the Hospice in the location chosen ranging from the taking of greenbelt land to polution from cars etc.
Luckily a newer site has been approved and they start laying the first stone soon.
Now a little bit about this "choice" part of my town originally chosen :-
At one time it was the FIRST place the Police looked for stolen cars ,drug-dealers and burglars.
It was one of the most rundown parts of town ,my local council were always relocating families because no-one WANTED to live here by choice.
My local council decided renovations of housing in the area was a bad idea so residents were moved to other areas of town and most of this area was bulldozed.
(As an aside if you saw Victoria Wood in Housewife 49 ,the bombsite footage was actually filmed DURING the demolishing of this estate - FACT)
Now wouldn`t you think as a resident that a childrens hospice and respite centre could only IMPROVE your area ?

Those people are idiots. When people get bored they protest on stupid stuff. Now, I'm not saying protesting is stupid but certain things people protest are. For exampl: the above. Plus wounded soldiers need family support. And the family need somewhere they can stay for cheap or free whatever the case may be. Some soldiers are wounded so bad that all they can rely on is their family. Those protesters sound like terrorists

All this crap about location is just a smoke screen. They have other reasons for not liking that location, and it probably has more to do with money than location. Terrorist target?? If there was nothing located there and the terrorists attacked that location, would there be no response?

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.

Yes they would like it to be in a horrible crime ridden area to salve their sensibilities. What a gang do they not realise that in an area with a military establishment the area is usually well kept. For the record the same sort of thing happened with the burn victims in WW2 (The Last Enemy by Richard Hilary)

Not only is this morally wrong but it should be criminally wrong too. Why do we live in a society today that thinks only of what`s in it for me..? How will it affect me...?
These idiots are not fit to lick the boots of our service personnel, let alone be allowed to live in the same area.
They should be prosecuted under the discrimination act.

Then sent on active to see what it`s like for themselves.

Shame on them.

These are the people that Labour have raised up as a new and improved aristocracy - your moronic petit-bourgeoisie who'll jump to defend ethnics, PC & multi-culturism.

They should not be allowed to attack members of our armed services and their families who are prepared to risk their lives to protect these miserable excuses for human beings.

Just another group of elites very satisfied with enjoying there freedom on the backs of the average men and women who lose there life and limbs to protect them. Scum / Bastards is fine.

Hi I answered this same question yesturday. I agree with you, but can you stop labouring under the misconception that these people defend anyone except their own socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, they don't. They have no time for people who do not fit in with them, that goes for you too. Argue your point saliently , but forgo your sweeping statements as to what these people represent, they speak for no-one but themselves.
