I believe they will have to beat the Brewers to go to the playoffs, one of the teams in the west looks like they will win the wild card. Getting to the playoffs is really difficult but if they are able to get there they would have as good a shot as any to win. That might need to pick up a good starting pitcher to get there, but most of the other teams have the same pitching problems.

I am not a Cubs fan, and actually I am the furthest thing from it. GO BREWERS!!!! I am however a basball fan. I do think they have a shot, but unfortunately the only team to make the playoffs from the central division this year will be the division champs. The wildcard will come from the east or west. The Cubs lineup on paper is AMAZING!!! It is a playoff caliber line up. OH.......and they are playing really well right now. On the other hand their pitching rotation is not a playoff caliber rotation. The pitching staff is doing really well right now, but they don't have a rotation that can carry the team the rest of the way. If they are going to make it this year, their entire pitching staff would almost all have to have a career year. They have Zambrano who is there Ace, but would not be an ace on many teams. After that.......they have basically average pitchers. They have a chance, but it will be difficult. Sit back and enjoy the race between the Cubs and the Brewers.......it will be fun.

I think the Brewers have what it takes to hang on in the Central Division, the Phillies will take the East and the Padres the West. This leaves the Cubs, Mets, Braves and Dodgers as potential Wild Card teams. I think the Cubs are the best-equipped.

This would likely leave Division Series matchups of Brewers vs. Phils (Phils would have worst record of Division winners, Brewers best, and can't play Wild Card winner from same Division in NLDS), and Padres with HFA over Cubs. To be totally honest, I think the Padres are ready, while both the Cubs and the Brewers have a "year away" quality to them. But I still see the Brewers beating the Phils, and then losing the Pennant to the Padres.

This time, however, the Cubs' postseason loss won't have any horrific "curse-style" moment to it. They'll just get beat by a better team. And, having gotten close, they'll be ready next year.

AL: Yanks over Tigers (with Sheffield making the difference again, this time helping the Tigers lose), Angels over Indians, and Yanks finally beating Angels for the Pennant. World Series, it won't be a sweep like in 1998, but Yanks over Padres in 6.

Honestly, I think they will go all the way this year!! I know...I Know... I'm a true cubs fan, have been all my life, and I am the first to say "there's always next year", but I really think that with the year they are having now, this could very well be our year. As the old saying goes.... For a chicago fan, you never grieve, but to be a true cubs fan, you gotta believe!!!!! GO CUBBIES!!!!

Doesn't look good. Brewers are playing great ball this year, so winning your division is unlikely... though you never know. If you can't catch them, though, you're facing two other teams ahead of you in the wild card race. It could happen, but don't take it to Vegas. Now, if they DO make the playoffs, anything can happen. Ask the Tigers. That said, it sounds like there is a lot of wishful thinking going on here.

I not only think they will make it to the playoffs, I can see them in the World Series. The NL is weak and if you get on a roll at the right time(see St. Louis Cardinals last year) anything is possible

I definitely think they have the potential to go all the way. Although I do think they will make the playoffs, it's hard to predict how far they will go. I'd like to think they'll win the World Series, but a lot of their success depends on who they play. But I definitely have hope they'll win it all this year.

They have a very good chance the way they are playing right now. They are only 4.5 games behind the Brewers and the Brewers just lost Ben Sheets for atleast a month and loosing your ace for that long in a race this close could be trouble.

Of coarse they'll make the playoffs, possibly even to the world series, but they won't win. CUBS WIN! HOLY COW!

The Cubs will take the central and if their pitching, fielding and hitting are going well, they could win the NL...pitting them against the AL Champion, and in 7 games anything can happen (White Sox, Cardinals)
