The dragon flies that are in my yard are a blue color, almost the color of the next button on this screen. Anyhow, at almost any given moment there are at least ten hovering around in just the front yard. I look around at the neighbors yards and there are none in theirs. I always thought dragon flies ate insects, however, I have been very diligent with putting insecticides out, particularly to rid my yard of ants.

You probably have more bugs to eat in your yard, or the flowers they like, or water. Dragonflies are a hint that your yard is eco-friendly. Consider yourself lucky, some say they are good luck.

I have many varieties. I also have some really big black ones with white stripes on their wings. I love 'em. Like you, I must have what they are looking for and I'm hoping they are looking for mosquitoes because I have a bunch of those too and, from what I understand, mosquitoes are what they like to eat.

Yu are either closer to a creek or river than the neighbors, or you have a "water feature" in your yard...

They sound really nice.

Plus they eat mosquitoes, you probably don't want to kill them.

Check and see if you have any standing water that's a growing place for mosquitoes.

Like a puddle or something.

They eat flying insects and how lucky you are to have this experience. Do you live near water? They usually live near water's edge. I have not seen one since childhood. We were afraid of them.
