I think worms are digusting, but to a bird that is what tastes good to them. Birds are taught by their mothers to eat them while they are in the nest. A worm is a birds first thing that they eat. It's a meal for them that has something in it to help them to survive.
As they get older an can leave the nest they can them look for other things to eat. Birds do not always eat worms. They like birds seed and crackers and certain types of breads and buns. So, they do have some other foods in their diets besides just worms. Someone said that is some cultures worms are eaten as well. As gross as that may seem to me, something I like to eat may be gross to someone else.
For me though worms would not be something I would gladly want in my mouth, but if I were lost in the woods or a forest and I want to survive, then I may look at things differently. I don't know how they taste so I can't say with any certainty if they are delicious or not. To a bird they must be.

Worms are, in fact, quite nutritious. I remember reading about the early American settlers and explorers having to "live off the land" at times; from these times, apparently, there evolved an Appalachian recipe for earthworm cake. Bugs in general are nutritious and are eaten by people all over the world. John the Baptist lived in the wilderness and ate locusts and wild honey, locusts and grasshoppers being clean insects according to Mosaic law.

Don't forget that you can't judge a food by what eats it. There are plenty of things that other animals eat that are either unpleasant or even toxic to humans. As for taste, I can't stand artichokes, but I love broccoli and cauliflower. Would that be a basis for you to make dietary choices? Worms are food; big old tubes of protein and stuff in an easy-to-eat and easy-to-digest convenient tube that doesn't bite back. Why wouldn't birds like them? Of course they take some finding and catching, and they're not available in the winter, but if you can work around that, you're fine.

Birds don't have much in the way of taste buds and worms are an excellent source of protein.

Its possible that the birds that do eat worms have nothing but that available, or they just have different taste than people. =-)

As far as the birds are concerned worms taste so good. And, by the way, can you ask something significant?
