I am due with first child at the end of October. We are having a little boy. For his room we have are going to do a jungle theme. My husband and I both like the bedding set called "Jungle Babies". But I have never really decorated a room before.. we want it to be like walking into a real jungle in there. But not to much where it would scare a baby or toddler. Any suggestions?

You could have some real or faux potted plants like ferns to give it a jungle atmosphere and hang cute stuffed animals like monkeys on the plants.

Also, keep the lighting soft to relax baby and mimic the effect of filtered light through jungle foliage.

Just keep it simple (he'll outgrow in just a few years and will want a room themed to whatever Disney-Pixar movie is popular at that time). Paint the walls a light green or brown, and buy some art to hang. You can also hang things from the ceiling, like jungle themed stuffed animals. Use bright colors, though - babies can't really distinguish pastels, so the vivid colors will be more interesting to him.

Actually I like the idea of jungle theme ,You can continue with the theme as the child gets older by just removing the I guess you would call it the babish looking items.I have always enjoyed doing my childrens rooms in themes such as ,sports, planes, trains instead of Disney because I feel like it will grow old to quick.Have a painter to come in and paint a mural on one wall.

Well, 'jungle' seems a bit extreme to me....
how about thinking in more in terms of 'friendly forest'?
Baby animals in trees, bushes, behind logs, etc. Stuffed animals will work well into this theme and provide your baby with lots of 'warm fuzzies' as well.
Don't forget to include lots of 'sky' and 'sun' and other brightening effects such as flowers and water. You don't want a gloomy room after all.

i'd have a painter come and do the walls up...and get matching furniture...yanno brown and greenish colors...i think the murals on the walls will work wonders. and congrats.
