I am not talking about Las Vegas, but if you have little time and you suddenly want to get married because you are going to go someplace else, can you just go to a priest and tell him to marry you even though you haven't made any rearrangements and told the family about it, will you get married anyway?

You have to legalize the marriage. That means, in the US, you have to file with the county in which the marriage is going to be performed for a marriage license. You get the marriage license, and then the license is "solemnized" by a priest, pastor or other religious figure, or a judge. Once that's done, you're married.

I got married last year without much fuss. I needed a wedding licence which i got from our justice of the peace, a couple counselling classes from the pastor or preist (only if its required) and some rings. If you are legal age, and have someone willing to legally marry you, then its pretty simple.

sure you could. you don't even have to have a priest. as long as they have the authority. but the idea with wedding and all that, is really something the family and friends wants to be a part of, thats why people do it. don't need to though.

You need a marriage liscence, a witness and a preacher or someone with the authority to marry people.

That's up to you and what you want for yourself. You don't even really NEED a priest, you just need to go downtown. You can have the city do it if you want.

It is my understanding that in the Catholic church, there is a certain amount of pre-marital counselling involved, so I would say no. And if you are underage, most certainly no.

You'd at least need witnesses I think...
