When the concept of Liberty, Freedom and democracy was starting to ignite with the american revolution and the french revolution.....including the idea of government of the people by the people for the benefit of the people.... who opposed it? who was scared to death of it? what arguments did they use to convince people it would fail???

Are these anti democratics around in the world we live in today? are they here in the USA? what arguments or philosophies do they preach ...which do they ridicule? By what subtrafuge and chicanery do they control the greater whole?

Two words: Greed & Power. Those are the one who opposed democracy back then and do so today. There is a certain elected society that simply does not want to be mangled up with the rest of us "common" people. Those are the ones that think they have all the knowledge and the answers. Unfortunately as much as this might be true they quickly fall into the trap of power gain and greed. It is what push people to act the way they domaking sure that only their ways goes and that only they can profit from any situation.

This is a very comprehensive question and would require a very detailed answer. I will say this though, there were a lot of loyalists in the American colonies (they were called "loyalists" or tories because these people were loyal to the crown and the authority of England). There were many reasons to support England then... one, it was illegal to defy the authority; two, the revolution did not necessarily embrace everyone (America originally only allowed the property owners to vote and participate in the government process); and there were a lot of eceonomic reasons to be loyal... a lot of people were succesful and they weren't ready to turn everything upside down... also, the loyalists were patriotic to their nation.

The French Revolution is not quite easily explained; that would take a book. But one faction that would be against it would be the nobility of course.

Liberty? Those who want the citizen chained to the government, more control for government. That would include any kind of nationalization of private business or socialism.

Freedom? Those who would silence others, whether by insisting that others MUST say certain things, must have certain information, must do certain things regardless of their rights as granted in the Constitution. It is not those who call you names, whether traitor or whatever. They have free speech as well. It's those who try to make it law to silence you.

Democracy? Those who want socialism, foremost. There is no democracy in socialism. Those who hate government. They have distanced themselves from it and now see it as an enemy. They add nothing to our country. Finally those who are political bigots. They will play they game unless they lose, then they'll toss the game board. If they can't win, then they'll quit the democracy, undermine it, etc. They have no conception of what democracy is. They want their way, regardless of the cost to our country, are people, etc.

With the exception of the comments about socialism (which has taken over much of my party, Democratic), my comments could apply to either political party. Don't assume I don't mean some of either side. It's easy to assume that when one side is in power, but I remember some of the anti-American behavior during the Clinton years by some (not all) Republicans. Both sides, folks.

England, Because we belonged to them and they wanted to keep us.

Today, all these life long politicians (both Reb and Dem) in power today. For a true democracy the people have to know the truth about what is going on. How many of our politicians today are telling the truth about anything? They tell us what they would like us to believe. Sad part is we know this and put up with it. If I got caught lying to my boss about Major work issues he would fire me but we just keep voting them back in.

These are the some people who call other unamerican for questioning their leaders. They are very much alive and well, Most of the people we've elected to lead us care more about lining their own pockets than democracy.
