If I'm understanding your question....You got married in Las Vegas and your husband filled for divorce in Chicago while you two were married?...Is that correct? Then yes, he can file for divorce anywhere in the United States as long as he is a resident of the state. Now if your asking if your husband filled for divorce from his ex wife in Chicago and then married you in Las Vegas then yes, that's legal too as long as the divorce was final before you two got married.

Well that sounds pretty odd that they would go to Vegas to merry and one of them runs away the judge is not going to let them get divorced w/ out finding the spouse. The spouse has to sign the divorce papers if you haven't been intimate then I think the marriage will not we valid (annulment)

Yes. There are procedures to go through. You have to place a legal ad for so many days or weeks, you have to show where you have tried to contact them, etc. It depends on where you live. Check out the legal section in your local paper and it has all kinds of these notices!
An example of one of my local legal notices.

I think under the law that notice to respondent can be published three times in a major publication in area of last known residency and that satisfies the procedure.

file based on abandonment, you'll get a divorce but they'll make you put ads in the local paper telling of your intentions and then asking if there are objections by him or if he wants to come forth to contest it...he won't..

I would check with an attorney. If he abandoned you and are catholic, I think an annulment might also be possible.
