u can check out the website- knowknockoffs.com . it will help a lot, but these r the best ways:
first, where did u buy the bag?....lv only sells through reputable chain store like saks. they NEVER discount or sell their bags through home parties, street vendors, or salons.
also, there r many really good fakes out there, so u can not depend on the look of the bag. many fakes r made out of high-end leather. the most classic ways to tell a fake include: lv will never cut across their logo, lv stitches their bags in the same color thread throughout the bag (seams, zipper, handles etc. all handles should have a leather or plastic/nylon core. many fakes have paper or cardboard cores in the handles. also, the inside of the bag should be lined and the lining should be sewn in quite tightly. lv does NOT have inner lining that has logos on it. it should be a plain high-quality fabric. you should see lv imprinted on all the bag's hardware (buttons, zippers, clasps, buckles). your bag should have a serial # on the inside. u can call lv's customer service # and provide the serial #. they will be able to tell u if it is a legit just by the serial #. the purse should be entirely leather. no plastic or vinyl. even though some fakes r real leather, they do not age or break in like the quality of leather that lv uses. hope this gets u started.

If you paid well below the MSRP, it's probably fake. Bootlegged purses can be almost identical in look and feel, so there's no cut and dry way of telling. To avoid buying fake Louis Vuitton items, try to buy them direct from LV, rather than using eBay or CraigsList.
If you're looking to buy online, use http://www.eluxury.com. They're the official online dealer for Louis Vuitton, and you can get to eluxury directly from the Louis Vuitton site.

The leather will feel soft and smell real. The monogramming will NEVER EVER be cut off. the inside pockets will have Louis Vuitton on them. There also may be some outside hardware detail with LV printed on them.

First, there is a leather tag inside that says Lois Vuitton, that means it's real.
Also, the fake ones are usually plastic, and bought cheaper on the street.
Lastly, the real ones last much longer.
I hoped this helps!!

fake purses have the stamps in the inside also.....if u got it from NY in one of those abonded looking buildings or the beauty supply store or the beauty shop it is fake.
also on style network they stated that LV never cuts off the lettering....therefore, if the purse has some of the LV's cut off by the stichiing or anywhere else on the purse it is a fake. moreover the stiching and the color is a little different on the fake ones :-)

If u could tell if it was real when u bought it. The price tag should give you a clue. Remember you get what u pay for. Only buy item for stores you know and trust(stores that carry the best, no knock offs.)

If you paid a bunch of money for it, and got it from a reputable store, then it is probably real.
If you got 'a deal' on it from some dude on the street, then it's probably fake.
The real question is, why didn't you ask how to identify a fake bag before you bought it?
