The reason the US gives for not continuing with Free Trade talks with Colombia is the killing of trade unionists due to the violence caused by the rampant use of drugs in the US.
Americans drug consumption is directly 'financing' terrorism in Colombia.
Given the fact that Colombia is perhaps the only 'ally' the US has in Latin America, is this the way to treat a friend?
At one time or another, the US supported the Taliban, Osama bin Laden and Saddam, but Colombia is 'punished' for American 'bad habits'?

Look up contras, CIA and Ollie North in nicaragua. That should show you the logic...

there is no logic as much as we like to think we have a logical society there are sooo many negatives, and people need to take a stand against the drug pushers or there will be no change people are scared of them and the firepower they have, getting guns and drugs off the street is a major problem for our police force and they cant do it alone, I want my kids to grow up in a cleaner world =)

Well, if you ignore Columbia's behavior in this, your argument makes perfect sense.

However, Columbia has done more than enough to get itself into this mess.

We don't owe them.

We're fighting the war on drugs and terror like someone would fight a war on disease, because they are similar.

There will always be drugs, terror, and disease.

The idea that they have won because they make a successful attack and we can't destroy them completely for a clear "win" is insane.

The alternative is to die.

You can't beat disease. It will always come back. So we might as well give in and die. Stop fighting.

That's insane. We will continue our war on drugs, terror, and disease because some of us...

...are not suicidal. We put our country ahead of our personal philosophies. It's called patriotism. Columbia comes second for us, not first (we expect they'd feel the same about their country, be sad for them if they didn't).

How can I comment on the logic if I don't know if you are stating fact of your opinion?

State your sources. That's what the box is for below. You'd have to be a fool to believe someone on face value because they just so happen to have an opinion.

Americas "what suites us at the moment" foreign relations polices are what keep us in trouble with most of the world all the time. With our track record would you trust us?

Don't we have a war on place mats yet? I don't understand why we need them.
