I wanted to buy a monitor for my desktop PC that I can also hook up my PS3 to. I've seen those LG displays at the PS3 kiosks at a number of stores, I like them alot, but I'm not sure of those can also be used as a PC monitor.

I guess what I'm looking for is a display that can be a PC monitor but also has HDMI inputs so that I can plug in my PS3.

Any of you guys know what kind of display I would need? I'm really confused with this one and I was hoping someone had an answer for me.

Thanks in advanced!

I'm running a GeForce 7800 GTX on my PC which has two (2) DVI-OUT ports, so I guess the monitor would either have to have DVI-IN ports in the back, or I would have to get a DVI to HDMI adapter. ??

The signals in a HDMI connector are the same as in a DVI connector, so any monitor that has DVI can connect to your PS/3

The twist is that HDMI allows for HDCP encryption of the signal, so anything that invokes the HDCP encryption is not going to work with a plain DVI-D monitor.

So you need a monitor with DVI-D connection that supports HDCP encryption. There are several out there.

I AM NOT 100% SURE ABOUT IT BUT I KNOW THE 360 HAS VGA CONNECTIONS SO I WOULD ASSUME THE PS3 PROBABLY HAS THEM AS WELL. I WOULD PROBABLY BE THINKING MORE ALONG THE LINES OF A DVI MONITOR THOUGH FOR THE BETTER PICTURE. MAKE SURE YOU CAN CONNECT YOUR SOUND TO YOUR COMPUTER OR YOU HAVE A RECEIVER OR STERIO CLOSE BY FOR YOUR SOUND. I KNOW THEY ARE MAKING A LOT OF MONITORS NOW THAT HAVE BOTH DVI AND VGA CONNECTIONS ON THE BACK SO MAYBE GET ONE OF THOSE AND SEE IF YOU CAN RUN EITHER YOUR PC THOUGH ONE AND PS3 ON THE OTHER TO SAVE YOU FROM HAVING TO CONNECT AND DISCONNECT THEM WHEN YOU WANT TO USE THEM OR BUY A CONNECTOR THAT WILL LET YOU JUST SELECT THE SOURCE IF YOU RUN THEM BOTH FROM VGA OR WHATEVER. NOT SURE IF THAT HELPS BUT THE BEST I HAVE FOR YA ON THAT WITHOUT GOING AND LOOKING IT ALL UP ONLINE.
