Dont want to hear he'll come when he's ready either. If it was up to my 1st child, he would've stayed in 1 full month after he was due. Serious answers pls. and i am 38 weeks pregnant, full term,2nd child.

Walking is definitely one of the best things you can do. You can also take Red Raspberry Leaf tablets in conjunction with Evening Primrose Oil daily to help strengthen and tone the uterus for labor. It will also encourage you to have more Braxton-Hicks contractions which in turn dilate and efface the cervix.

Castor oil is an old-fashioned remedy, but you would need to ask your doctor or midwife how much to take. But for many women it does NOT work and ends up giving them diarrhea, nausea and stomach cramps.

Other methods are breast stimulation to produce the hormone oxytocin (by hand or with a pump), intercourse and eating very spicy foods.

I know how hard it is at the end! Hang in there and you will be holding your baby very soon.

All the best to you and baby!

I was skeptical of all the different myths I had heard on early induction and didn't want to put anything like castor oil or different spices into my body for fear of harming my baby or myself. However, some things I figured were natural and could not hurt the baby like walking and intercourse. When I got to the point that I could no longer take being pregnant I walked for about 30 minutes one afternoon and my husband and I tried the good ol intercourse method that evening. Maybe it was just our timing or I was already ready to begin labor but at about 12:30 that same night I began having real labor contractions and we welcomed our baby boy that next day. I think the intercourse worked for me but I have also heard others say that your cervix has to be "ripe" and ready beforehand and then the mixture of sperm and the pregnancy hormones in your body cause labor contractions. I think it is definitely worth a shot though! Good luck and congratulations on your baby.

For me NOTHING worked- even cervadil administered by the hospital took 12 hours to kick in. BUT methods that I have heard of actually working are acupressure on the feet (particularly the little toe, I've heard!) fairly vigorous walking, washing the floor (on hands and knees). In the really late stage-meaning if you are already past your due date, my mom swears that an enema brought on labor for her twice. Kind of gross but I guess stimulating the bowels triggers a "chain reaction" of sorts.....aside from that I can only tell you what you don't want to hear- and it's not what I wanted to hear either at the time!! :-) Hang in there!

Personally...I tried walking, sex, scrubbing floors, castor/mineral oil.....and nothing worked....I had to have a c section! But you should walk a LOT....try sex....reflexology (someone rubs your foot in a certian spot to stimulate your uterus) You can also request that your dr scrap your membranes...that is suppose to be really effective, but my sister had to have it done twice! But it worked the 2nd time she went into labor about 4hrs after she had it done!

Good Luck!

I was 11 days late with my first child... My doctor stripped my membranes and I started labor that afternoon.

It worked for me and it really wasn't painful at all! Sometimes they need a little push! =)

Good luck and congrats!!!

Well walking, swimming, intercourse, and spicy food will help. I haven't delivered yet but they sure do bring on some really heavy Braxton Hicks for me.
