Well, one reason is that the pen as a great influence and effect on the community if people read what you write. Some people can also be convinced that what they read is true no matter what it is. A sword only offers physical power, but the pen can change the power of the mind. The second reason is that this can happe to peoople and they will have no clue that this is happening. no one would suspect the mighty pen.

You remember the saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?"
I think it goes like this, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will break my heart." (and spirit...)
"The pen is mightier than the sword" means that words have an eternal effect. Someone might stab you with a sword, but you can be patched up again and good as new. Words stab you in the places where stitches can't reach--in your mind, in your spirit, and in your heart. Once uttered (or written), words can never be withdrawn. That's why it's so important to think about what you say and once you've said it, mean it.

1. A pen can sign documents that set into motion the destruction of many or a treaty that saves a nation. A sword can only take away life one at a time, it can never make "peace"
2. A pen jammed artfully up someones nose can pierce the sinus cavity, rupture brain and kill. (I watch too many movies)

Its almost like saying is physical better that mantal right and
I personally think that mental is better than physical and I love sports.
Also because with a pen you can do anything if you write it down and a sword is used if you actually do what you like doing instead of writing it and a sword can have much more consiquenses

A single pen,
can write the idea,
that unites a million swords.
There are not two reasons, just one.
But it's one hell of a reason.

The pen can educate the ignorant. It can wake up those who are sleeping make them aware of the reality. When awakened, they will know what to do, they will know when to fight for their rights, and they would not let themselves be trampled upon. The more and more the pen can educate, the more and more empowered they will become.
Now the sword...
It will only kill and kill. It will let you sleep... it will let you dream... but you will die in your sleep.
