I have a 1 year old girl and i have another baby girl that is due to be born any day now. I have seen the Two-way Tandem Stroller by Safety 1st for 149.99 in Burlington Coat Factory, what do you think of that one? or which one will you recommend?

Try these two websites. The second one lists by price and has reviews and rankings from consumers. If you are going to use the infant carrier with your newborn, be sure to check that it is compatible with the stroller. Good luck!

I have used a Safety 1st brand stroller in the past (it was a single), and it was my favorite stroller ever! I also got mine at Burlington Coat Factory's Baby Depot. The only double stroller I have ever used was a Graco brand and it was side by side. I only used it for a short period of time, and I do not recall the model so I can not help you there:D

I did want to tell you that Babies R Us, and I believe the One Step Ahead catalog also, has a device that connects two single strollers. If you find two that you like, you can use this to make them into a double stroller. The device itself is very inexpensive (it is with the stroller accessories). Umbrella strollers can range from $15 up-I have seen some VERY nice ones for only $40 each.

I just wanted to throw that option out there for you, because I hated my double stroller (it was heavy and bulky). Using that device, it would be easy to separate the strollers when Dad is with you to push one, or when you only have one of the children with you or the older child wants to walk rather than ride.

Good luck finding the perfet one, though! Congratulations on your (pending) new arrival, also!

EDITED TO ADD: You can also go to Babies R Us or Burlington Coat Factory and "test drive" several different models, and practice folding them and opening them. Like I said, we had a side by side and it was pretty easy to steer, but was too wide to fit through some doors/aisles. The tandem ones, where the babies ride in line, will fit through the aisles and doorways easier, but steering (and especially turning) are quite difficult. It will all depend on your personal preference. Have your one year old sit in the strollers, and toss your purse in the other seat (I know mine ways as much as a baby! HaHa) while you test them out. Again, good luck!

No matter what brand tandem you buy, you need to be prepared for a few brutal truths...

1.) They are bulky/heavy/cumbersome it is after all two strollers in one ;)

2.) The weight of 2 small children (never mind older kids) DRAMATICALLY impact how well it steers (it usually doesn't!!)

These having been said...I despised taking the stroller with our boys out when it was me alone, most times I couldn't get it to go where I needed it to, those foamy pads on the handlebars that's supposed to make it "comfort grip"...after trying to wrangle this thing just to go straight down the sidewalk...not so comfortable.

However when it was my husband and I going out, he didn't mind pushing it at all (although he too found it hard to steer, etc. too) and being able to keep our kids with us and not wandering off when we were, say, in West Edmonton Mall was awesome!

Our stroller was a Jeep Wagoneer Tandem, we still use it from time to time, generally if we're going somewhere with a lot of people of lots of walking. It's held up pretty good.

Most people I know have warned me against side by side strollers (too wide for most doorways/aisles/etc.)

Personally my experience with safety first has been all over the place...they make some stuff that I wouldn't part with for the world...there is other stuff that was downright dangerous. So each product needs to go on a case by case basis, I find.

Don't have any kids of my own but for my sisters two kids (now three third born 7/16/07) we bought them the Graco Quatrro Tour Deluxe Double stroller it was a bit pricey about 250 if i re-call but it is great. it is sturdy, a bit bulky but what double isn't !?! fits both children well. one of her's is handicapped and can not move well so we lay her down in the back and strap her in it is great and the other rides in the front and gets to see whats going on
Good luck

Graco is ok.....definately one of the cheapest......but they are HUGE.....I hated lugging it around everywhere.....by time I would get into the store, I would be sweating!! I only had the SINGLE ONE!! I really like Tike Tech (Double stroller I bought was $299.....online....you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere) it is a little more expensive but it is three wheels and it will last longer.......you can also look into Maclaren, Combi or Chicco Chitta.......little less expensive than Tike Tech but a lot lighter than Graco......do your wife a favor and don't make her lug around a graco!! Safety 1st is pretty much the same as Graco.....very heavy.....

I have older children. I also have a almost two year old and due with new bub about the time she turns two. I have looked at the tandem, side by side and was put off by the width.
I have looked at those with a toddler seat and didn't like them either, fussy aren't I.
In the end I have chosen the Phil & Teds sports. It is light weight and well designed. It has alot of good features. They are well priced too.

Good luck.

The graco one we had was a beast. Id say make sure whichever one you get will also snap in the infants car seat.

However until the baby was older, I really liked putting the baby in the bjorn/carrier, and just pushing one around in the single stroller.

there's GRACO one that is nice, but i can't remember the name. i've seen people with the ones with 3 wheels on them, they look nice too!

i'd go with the one you saw. the $150 for a double stroller sounds like a good deal!

Check out your local consignment shops. You can usually get the same thing for much cheaper.

I have the Graco Duo Glider and it is okay. It is heavy and big but relatively easy to steer and fold. i paid around $150 for it new.

I myself loved the Graco! When purchasing make sure you check and see how heavy it is and how easy or hard it is to colapse. My sister has twins and she just went for the one tha was cute for boys....Shes suffering and is now stuck using it! I on the other hand did daycare and went for practical and easy to handle. To each their own, you may think differently that everyone who answers. So just remember to check them out well!
