9/11 amd Iraq are 2 different issues. We went to Afghanistan because the Taliban was allowing terrorists to maintain training camps and launch operations from there. Iraq was a continuation of the Gulf War. Let me refresh your memory. Saddam invaded Kuwait. A coalition of nations retaliated and drove Iraq out of KUwait and then defeated them in about 2 weeks of fighting. Saddam surrendered and signed a treaty promising to be a good boy, so we left him in power. Almost immediately he began breaking the agreement. The US went to the UN and over time the UN passed 17 resolutions against Iraq, which Saddam ignored. He kicked the UN inspectors out and continued his WMD programs, He then commited acts of war against the US by repeatedly firing on our war planes in the no fly zone. He was warned 3 times by Bush that the consequences of his actions would result in our invading and he continued. The WMD's he possessed were either buried or most likely transported to Syria at the last moment before the invasion by the US. Bush then invaded and defeated the Iraqi's again in about a month. We have been there since in a policing action allowing the new Iraqi government time to establish itself and build it's forces to defend itself from insurgents.

Al Qaeda is operating in Iraq
Saddam it is widely known supported terrorist organizations.
Saddam Violated the UN sanctions regime with the help of members of the Security Council. The cease fire agreement collapsed so the war resolution was agreed to by both parties. If you would follow the History available to you here on the web or available to you in the Library you would comprehend this. Saddam also had a relationship with the Taliban and Al Qaeda. This does not mean he had a role in 9/11 however Zarqarwi did not just materialize in Baghdad he was offered safe Haven after the Taliban were removed from power in Kabul. That means that Iraq was a safe haven for Al Qaeda before the war began. Therefore a target. You don't have the luxury any more to separate Iraq Al Qaeda from the Afghan Version because they are one in the same because they communicate with one another and have the same goals. If OBL says the central front is Iraq why would you doubt him? If the Zarwahiri states the same thing why would you doubt him? The Administration says it but you doubt the President. If the Enemy is on the run In Iraq and their forces are tied up why would you provide them a chance to regroup and come here? They are here and there are ongoing police investigations that prove this in L.A. and New York. You like to simplify something that is not simple, and ignore the statements of people who only want to kill you.
You are not that bright.

First of all Osama bi Laden is a Saudi not an Afghan.
The butcher of Baghdad had violated at least 18 UN resolutions including firing upon aircraft mandated by the UN to patrol the "No Fly Zone" (an act of war in itself) He was rightly executed by the Iraqi people for using WMDs on his own people. This would have not been possible without the US intervention. Any leader who would kill tens of thousands of men, women and children and bury them in mass graves, torure thousands more on a daily basis, needs to be removed.
If our government were to drop a daisy cutter on a U.S. city for political reasons, wouldn't you think the leaders should be brought to justice?
Bush Sr. had the authorization to defend Kuwait from a hostile take over by Saddam's government Only. Not to invade Iraq. His mission was accomplished.
I suggest you turn off the news. stop reading the headlines and do some good research on the middle east and why this region is vital to the rest of the world. There are many people in this area who's ONLY purpose in life is to annihilate ANYONE not like them. These people would like nothing more than to control the earth's oil supplies so they could blackmail the west and cripple the world economy.
Don't be fooled. Because Europe has not aggressive enough against terrorism, we're seeing massacre upon massacre of innocent people there by Jihadists who vow to take over that part of the world.
Last but not least, The U.S is a major contributer to the world bank spending billions on foreign and domestic aid.

That's the same question everyone was aking.
Invading Iraq was an agenda item for Bush and Cheney. It was Bush's own personal thing. But he masked it by saying "WMD'd". He knew there were no WMD's, so he lied to the American people about a war.
Then at the same time North Korea said "We have nuclear weapons". We negotiated with them. So we negotiate with the guy who we KNOW has them, but we invade the guy who we THINK has them. Don't make sense, so that put a big whole in his WMD theory. For the record, none were found.
He said it was to establish a democracy. So were the worlds police force, huh. We cannot do that, it only causes more problems than it solves. And in case you have not noticed, it is awfully hard to throw out a government and replace it with a new one. We still have not won.
So many people told him, that a country without a strong govt. is ripe for civil war, chaos, and corruption. Bush did not listen. Now we have 3,000 American soldiers dead, 1 million iraqis dead, and the very people who could have helped the country recover left due to the violence.Bush did not listen. He thought it was going to be a peiece of cake. We'ere still there after 4 years, and we are getting nowhere.
It was not in the U.S. or the people's best interest. They wanted to go into afghanistan. We did, but we did not finish the job, and bin laden is still free. Sounds good, right. Iraq was never a problem, we made it one. It was never a hot spot for terrorists, we made it one, and now, iraq is still having very little effect on stopping terrorism(as indicated BY VIDEOS, AND ATTACKS). Finishing in Afghanistan would help stop terrorism, but bush does not care, he just wants what he wants.(And Hussein actively opposed al-qaida and bin laden)
Now saddam was a bad guy, i know. But why do we have to be the police, it's his country, he does what he wants with it. HIS country, not ours. We need to stop worrying so much about other countries, and worry about what flaws we have.

Perhaps you missed all the news stories and information regarding our invasion of Afghanistan and the removal of the Taliban? The Taliban and al Qaida and bin Laden have been on the run for years now in the mountain wilderness in Afghanistan. And, we still have troops there.
Iraq was a completely different issue.
I know this sounds strange, but there are some people in the world who research facts first, before they form opinions. Weird, huh?

Reasons declared by Bush were false. Real reason is oil and famiy business. Iraq was invaded, country destroyed, 100 000 Iraqi people got killed during the war, 3 million ran away, and a country that did no harm to the US was put back into 18th century with sectarian war, possible separation to three rival states and God know what else.
Results for Bush administration: Oil delivery at cheap prices, sales of war machinery to several countries, giving deals to security companies that he or his family and staff own.
draw line is: Billions of US dollars redirected from the tax payer to other non convincing expense. 3700 soldiers killed (official figure)
End result: This may lead to another 9/11 or even worse.
What will happen: American people are waking up to change course. Your question is an example

Get your facts straight!!!
Osama bin Laden is the son of a Yemeni businessman who lived in Saudi Arabia with his numerous wives and at least 53 children.
He worked for the Saudi Arabian version of the CIA, and has a college degree in civil engineering. During the 1980s when the Russians had invaded Afghanistan, Osama worked for the CIA and helped funnel weapons to the rebels fighting the Russian backed government. At this point, he had some kind of religeous rebirth and became a jihadist. Disliking western values; he declared jihad on Israel and America.
He has lived in numerous nations (no longer a Saudi citizen; in fact they want to arrest him for terroristm) like the Sudan; which offered to arrest him for Bill Clinton who declined the offer because he was trying to cut a mideast peace deal at the time with Yassir Arafat and didn't want to upset Arab senses.
We are not sure where bin Laden is today, but probably he is in either Pakistan, or Afghanistan. Al Queda leadership hates the Bathists because they are not religious fanatics like him and don't subscribe to sharia (life under Islam) so they conspired to try and get America to invade Iraq. In fact, a key operative and designer of 9/11 named al Libbi, was captured in Feb 2003 and he said that Saddam had given them lots of support, money for weapons, training etc, which was later one of the reasons we invaded Iraq: to take Saddam out and stop him from aiding al Quada, which we now know is not the case. There are however, thousands of al Quada operatives in Iraq. They are responsible for most the spectacular suicide bombings that are occuring as they want to kill and maim as many people as possible.
The War on Terror is a long one and we need patience. There are al Quada operatives in about 50 countries that are plotting right now: TO KILL YOU!!!
All I can say is thank god we have a president willing to fight these ***holes anywhere on the planet.
Go Bush!!!

Bin Ladin is actually Saudi Arabian in origin as were most of the men on the planes on 9/11. He went into hiding in Afghanstan because he had sympathizers there in the Taliban who ran the government there until the US invaded right after that. The geography of the Afghani-Pakistani border makes it an excellent place to hide.
Going into Iraq was a fabric of lies, with reasons changing weekly. Given this Presidents unprecedented desire for secrecy we may never know if he was stupid, or misled, or deliberately went to war to polish up an image of a presidency that he felt he had coming to him. He may have seen himself as a brave leader, bringing his country though a victorious war, a fantasy leader as it were.
The federal government is charged with the defense of the nation, but in this case, we lost the perpetrator of 9/11 and pulled troops out from Afghanistan, and took them into Iraq.
Bin Ladin is still free, Bush is still president, and we still don't know why we are dying in Iraq.

Think about it this way...
If Saddam and Bin Laden were not ex-CIA operatives and trained by the US Government, would these things happen?
Yes, it would. They would just find someone else to be the 'Tom, Dick & Harry' to blame for these actions and still will get the government to fund from the tax payers money for a war that is uncalled for and unnecessary and get what they always wanted...precious resources for N.America because to be #1 in the world, you gotta be the meanest and most powerful in the world.
