An airplane hit the pentagon. Did you miss something? Osama is old, frail, and likely living out his last years in a cave somewhere. If it weren't him, it would be someone else. There are plenty of radical Muslims out there to take his place. Part of the failure on the part of the airport security is us spoiled Americans, afraid to be inconvenienced by extensive searches at the airports and the need for political correctness and the fear of racial profiling.

As Condaleeza Rice once said "we have to be right 100% of the time, and the terrorists only have to be right once."

In normal crashes, planes try to slow down. In this one, they deliberately sped up. No plane was meant to create an airplane shaped hole against a steel reinforced concrete bunker. Only the engine survived to any degree and that punched an engine sized hole down three stories!
The plane was shredded.

Osama is doing the same thing he had years of practice doing with the whole or the U.S.S.R hunting for him with far more lethal and brutal methods than we are using. If they couldn't find them with their methods, what makes you think it would be easy for us?

Our defenses did not fail. They have worked for many, many years, and many attempts to hurt us have failed as a result, but they only need to succeed once with your philosophy. An attack got in.
