lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to hear their thoughts.
But they won't have a good one that they won't have to change after they are briefed as the new president and know whats really going on.
Every president I have heard speak on the subject said they had to reevaluate their position when they finally had access to the real intelligence.
but have at it guys!
(personally, I think that is what happened to the "new congress")

A comprehensive plan on defeating ..........?
I cannot think of any person, or group, who can guarantee a comprehensive defeat. To even promise something is setting yourself up for a fall.
Like promising you will change the color red to neon pink for stop signs.
This does not take magic logic, just an honest look at reality.
There will ALWAYS be an Al Queda. There will always be someone out to kill another, over personal ideological ideals.
The only thing a Presidential Candidate can do is promise to TRY and protect his/her people by using resources ( Legal) to limit the threat, and find ways to bring their people together, so that they may bring others together later.

No. We can never really "defeat" Al-Quaeda and IF we ever could it would be replaced by another terrorist organization just as dangerous... The only realistic plan would be to contain organizations like this; to limit their capabilities and hopefully curb their recruitment efforts. Right now we are failing in all three areas.
We need to have a more realistic Middle East policy where we actually create economic growth and incentives for the middle class and the impoverished in that region... and we need to use our influence over the regimes to implement those incentives. This means a big sacrafice from both the regimes and probably the American oil companies there (good luck), We also need to have a more balanced strategy where we do not always side with Israel, we have to walk a tight rope to do this but our one-sided strategy has never worked in the last 40 years.
I don't know of one American politician that is willing or capable to do any of these things. Al-Quaeda will continue growing or copy-cats of Al-Quaeda will continue through our lifetime.

I certainly expect that anyone who seeks to lead the nation must have plans to deal with crisis in general. However, there is no such thing as a comprehensive plan to deal with terrorism. Terrorism defies traditional logic. You either kill them all, or erase the reasons for the hate. Neither of these ideas is feasible in reality. What I want is a President whose prime objective is to protect the homeland from attack. The way this must be accomplished is through global cooperation and intelligence. Anyone who believes that our reputation has not been damaged by some our actions in the last 7 years has not really been paying attention. Our next president needs to end the situation Iraq and begin strengthening our alliances with an eye towards making new ones. On the Home front he must support proper intelligence gathering tactics which do not trample on civil liberties. Anything less and we risk losing that which made the United States a great country in the first place.

Any candidate who claims to have a comprehensive plan for defeating Al Queda is *lying*--you cannot defeat a terror organization because there will always be terrorists.

I don't think anyone has a comprehensive plan. What I look for is the will to win. If our political leaders have the will, our military leaders will find the way.

I certainly hope someone does. No matter if a Democrat or a Republican is elected, the Al Queda problem will be hard to deal with. I know what NOT to do - coddle them or apease them. Also, their leaders need to stop preaching hate.

I was thinking on selling the family Bible, and replacing it with The Koran.(apparently the place they obtain their energy from)...Whataya think ?Perhaps if I more clearly understood their agenda,I could find a "comprehensive plan" to alter their ideology, and thus defeat them.....I doubt "kill them all" is apt to work, though....I could then send this plan to my Presidential choice, and He/She would undoubtedly follow it to the "T"...now if you'll excuse me,I've got to slip into a super hero suit and " I'm off,to save the world".......

Easily done...To defeat Al Qaeda it is necessary to focus attention on that issue and not divide forces and resources to encompass a war of no value as all wars are. The truth of the matter is had we done so Al Qaeda would have already been defeated and Bin Laden captured. This would have negated the conservative, Republican agenda to remain in some conflict to fill the pockets of Corporate America. Naturally the present administration along with it's Democrat allies couldn't have an easy victory so had to escalate their efforts to include Iraq. This has lead to the planned quagmire that we find ourselves embroiled in today.

I think it's impossible to have a comprehensive plan because of all the middleastern countries who hate us and are willing to hide the terrorists. The best plan is to be proactive against the countries that foster and protect terrorists
