I'll see your optimism and raise you some more good news:

Did anyone watch any of that crap on CSpan last night with the Democrats extolling all the negatives of the war? Hmm, what a strange thing to think that war might be a hardship on people, duh. The above cowards and naysayers make me sick, clearly you would only feel justified in debating against the war if we lose, so it is in your political interest to want that, you are disgusting "Americans", maybe you should read up on what this country was all about during WWII. Lest we forget, dear creatures, our enemy hit the PENTAGON, translate that into 1940s timeframe and tell me what would have happened. FDR would be smacking all of you and switching party affiliation.
Case in point, Lieberman, he isn't an ataboy supporter of the war, but he clearly doesn't want us to fail just to spite his political opponents.
And, THAT IS MY OPINION.

Back to zero? You mean zero without the rape rooms, without the murders by the government, without the bigotry and only one side in power, without the torture rooms.
Gee, strange idea of zero for Remember!
How dare we arm anyone because one day they may turn against us! Leave them to their fates? What an argument!
One city? Check the rest of the article. Some people don't read well. Interesting to see them virtually cheer the enemy.
That's why I'm voting for Lieberman as a Democrat (unless someone else comes out even better).
Republicans, thank you for carrying the ball on this one. Understand, some of us might have served as brakes (not suicidal anchors however) on this, with the goal of putting our country first where we had concerns, but it's good to see things are going well, overall.
Your turn to act as brakes on the socialism taking over my party!

Who believes Al qaeda will not leave Iraq, and seek refuge elsewhere? and if they do leave, does that mean they have been defeated ? al qaeda is in an estimated 80 countries, and to save numbers, they need but simply leave, America can claim victory, and al Qaeda can begin a new campaign some place else. The problem the American forces face is the recognition of the enemy, the probability they will remain and be wiped out, and the guess "where will they strike next?" An ideology can never be defeated with guns and bombs....Rather than try to muzzle the adult pitbull,It's often more wise to train the pitbull puppy NOT TO BITE

Yes, everyone agrees there's been progress in Al Anbar province. However, this is an opinion article and it shows only the positive side.
The regular news articles point out that the US has armed these Sunnis to the teeth, and they may turn their weapons against our troops at any time if we are perceived as allowing the Shiites too much leeway in their persecution of the Sunnis.
Here's one more thing to think about: "Arming Sunni militia undercuts Iraqi government"

Oh one city! Start the celebration. Seems more likely that the Al Queda troops simply moved out of the area to concentrate their attacks elsewhere, like say Baghdad. The bordom is great for the troops in that area, being out from the middle of a civil war has to be a relief.

If the Bruce in the article is correct and his son in Iraq hasn't heard any gunfire in six or seven weeks I guess that it is safe to bring the troops home now.

The leftists will never see progress - they've made it their business that America fail in this venture, and they've worked very hard to that end. They see increased partisan political power coming from a failure in Iraq. Such parochial myopia will doom us all.
The solution has always been a combined military, diplomatic and political one, and the Dems and their minions in the media have been trying to lose the political one since October 2002. Fact.

Right above "Is Al Qaeda in Iraq on the Run?", it says "Opinion".
An OPINION does not have to be based on factual evidence.
It looks like you are the one who needed to read the article first.

nice try... basically, you're saying we're winning a struggle to get back to zero (where we started). Bush supporters are the only people I've ever seen who are happy to get back up to "zero".
