Ignore the previous answer saying that you've done the wrong thing, and should speak to the manager.

This is incorrect, you`ve done the right thing by going to the FOS, and talking to people in the branch won't do any good, as they can't help you. Charge claims are sorted at head office level, rather than branch level. You should never speak to anyone at the bank anyway, as you have no proof of whats been said, everything should be done in writing.

From the first letter of complaint to the bank asking for your charges back, you have to allow them 8 weeks to resolve your complaint (which they won't). After this you can take them to the ombudsman as you`ve done.

It normally takes between 2 - 3 months for your complaint to be resolved by the ombudsman. It did used to be a bit quicker, but because the volume of complaints they deal with increases daily, it slows everything down. Its the same with the courts, it now takes a couple of months longer to get a hearing date than it did at the start of the year.

Its just a case of being patient now, your complaint will be dealt with, but you have no control over the time scales, just leave the FOS to it. If they need any information from you, make sure you supply it as soon as they ask, as this will help your claim to be resolved as quickly as it can.

Have a look at me site below which has detailed step by step guides to claiming your charges back, as well as the latest bank charge news and developments. There are also forums for one to one help and support throughout your claim which should help you.

Sending a complaint probably won't be responded to at all. If the charge was in error you should have gone in person and talked to a manager. Sometimes they will even reverse a bank change that wasn't an error like an overdraft charge if you ask really nicely and it hasn't ever happened before.

GIve it at least 30 days, possibly 45. Document all phone discussions including date and representative's name for future references.

I am afraid that the reply...the only honest one, can be; as long as it takes.

But check on its progress every two weeks or so,
