Two men have been given 6 and 4 years respectively for incitement to kill, after being photographed at one of the "Danish Cartoons" rallies last year. Anyone else think this is disproportionate?

Completely over the top. The Police should have pulled them aside and warned them and if they continued a breach of peace order would have been enough. Its clearly a sign of the times.

Being a fool does not give you license to break the law.
Someone tells you, "Hey, if you walk out into that road, you're going to get hit by a bus."
You walk out on the road and get hit by a bus.
Is that disproportionate?

They chose what happened to them. They just didn't think they'd get caught. That's the stupid part. That's also justice.

Incitement under English law encompasses the thought that some people who commit an actual crime did it because of the urging, coercing, and persuading of another party. That considered, you could easily draw the conclusion many people lose their lives from incitement.

Are these the guys who carried signs that said "Massacre those who insult Islam", "Butcher those who mock Islam", "Europe you'll come crawling when Mujahideen come roaring", "Britain you will pay: 7/7 on its way"? Or were they the ones dressed as suicide bombers? If so, then let them rot.

I think they got off lightly.
They went way beyond threatening behaviour. They were threatening they would commit mass-murder like their Muslim brethren on 7/7.

Well considering you get 3 months for killing someone if you driving dangerously, the sentences do seem harsh!

The sentences do seem slightly harsh when compared to other crimes, but what the hell. In this environment, to do that is just asking for trouble.

I don't. I'm just surprised at how lenient some of the other sentences are.

It seems a bit OTT unless there's evidence proving someone died because of their actions!
