There is no such thing. Suppose x were the greatest number known. Then x + 1 is greater than x, so x cannot be the greatest number known. Therefore, there is no greatest number known.
However, the largest uniquely named number that is widely known would probably be googolplex, which is a one followed by googol zeroes. Googol is itself a very widely known number, consisting of one followed by a hundred zeroes. So googol = 10^100 and googolplex = 10^googol.
There is also an essentially incomprehensibly large number called Graham's number, which is considered to be the largest number to ever be used in a mathematical proof. It is so large that scientific notation utterly fails to describe it, and a special notation was invented for this purpose.

The largest WORDED number is Graham's Number used in mathematical proofs. There is also the theory of supermassive numbers.

It is so large that it cannot be expressed in scientific notation. Merely the first term in an equation involving the number is greater than all of the atoms in the observable universe.

The biggest number given a name to is a googolplex.
That's 1 followed by a googol zeroes. (A googol being 1x10 at the 100th power).

There isn't such a thing, numbers go to infinity, you can never end counting, because there will always be a larger number next.

all the finite numbers are known. there is no end(maximum) to the finite numbers.and so no biggest number.
