They come in length up to 300ft. That is the longest distant that an ethernet signal can travel, so it is the longest cable made.
Normally you want to stay under 100ft. After that, you may notice some slowing of the signal and lost connections.
Any electronic or somputer store will carry them in a variety of lengths. It is always best to go with the shortest cord you can.

Don't go too long, and check multiple places. A 40ft cord costs $40 at best buy i believe.

I've seen 1000 ft. for sale, or you can go to your local Home Depot and buy any length you want. You can buy the RJ45 jack ends right there too and they aren't hard to hook up.
A quick google search turned up the following web site:

1000 feet an newegg.com
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000400132+123040285+1230413966&name=1000+ft.
For 1000 foot long cables you should use cat-6 or cat-7 cable.
Most people who buy this much cable cut the cables to length and install the connectors themselves; such as when wiring and office network.

The Simple Answer:
CAT-5 cable is rated to 100M
CAT-5e is rated to 350M
CAT-6 and CAT6e is rated to 550M or 1000M depending on your source
CAT-7 is supposedly rated to 700M or presumably 1000M

If you need a long cable, just buy a box of cat5 cable and make it yourself. It's really easy to do.
