Why not just ask Us Australians instead of guessing? Go to the "Australia" section and post a question, better yet submit a questionnaire. Look up Our news papers rather than relying on second hand information from a foreign source. That way You will get instant feed back.
Australia went the the Gulf War for the same reason that We went to Vietnam (that was the other big stuff up, but before Your time), because We don't leave Our friends and Allies down. We pay Our way rather than look for hand outs from the US, unlike some countries I could name. Australia and America have been Allies in war since 1918. It was Australians who first led Your troops during WW1.
We believe in all the 'right' things in life. And We believe that everyone one the face of the Earth really wants to become an Australian. Most of You are welcome.
As far as Al-Qaada is concerned, "No". We are not considered to be any were near the threat that America and Britain are. Besides which the logistics of working here are far too difficult for most splinter groups, and OUR Muslims are of a much better class of people than those who would wish to come here and jeopardize Their rights, freedoms and pursuit of a good life.
I will now get off My soap-box, and stop rattling My sabre.

No we don't fear Al-Qaeda in general. we're to far out of the way to be much threat to anybody. As for WW III, well no point coming over here. We are well known for being one of many of Bush's lap dogs, and as a result would then be considered a prime target. I think you would find that Australians as a whole would be more fearful of whether Al-Qaeda could be used in a game of Scrabble. Without the U following the Q and all.

I am Australian. I don't fear Al-Qaeda. We do have an idiot Prime Minister though who is denying our involvement with Iraq increases our terrorist risk. Also any google search about David Hicks and Guantanamo Bay or the current situation with a man being held for terrorism charges in Queensland will assure you we have a scaremonger controlling government too...
