Nope, not happy at all. I live abroad and miss the UK alot. I am cureently changing things and will be back living in the UK by this time next summer. (I will wait till next summer as I need to give 6 months notice for my job and as I am a schoolteacher I may as well wait till the end of the school year.)

Not Entirely.

I'm in the RAF and up until a year ago, I lived on RAF stations and loved it. There were some disadvantages, like inspections, but the advantages were that I lived in an individual room in a communal block, so I could knock on my neighbour's door and ask if they fancied going to the pub etc. Also, the huge advantage was that I didn't have to drive into work in the morning, as it was only a 5 minute walk, and so could let my hair down at mid-week parties. Also, all of my closest friends were living on site too, so we could meet up very easily.

Now, I live in a flat in Preston, Lancashire. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely place and the people are very friendly, but my only neighbour is in his 60's and doesn't go to the pub, and my nearest workmates are about 10 miles away, so to go to the pub for a few gets really awkward with taxis, and I need to drive to work every morning, so I can't let my hair down on the socials, which they ALWAYS plan on an inconvenient Thursday. To top it off, I'm now living 160 miles away from most of my friends (in Lincolnshire) and so the mileage on my car is huge, as I'm driving to Lincolnshire most weekends.

So, overall, I'm not really happy where I live, but I'm trying to move back as soon as I can (when my job permits me to move)

Very happy with where I live - in the countryside with a beautiful rambling old house. Can walk in the hills within 15 mins of the village but the train can have me in Manchester within 25 mins. The only thing I would change is the speed people drive along our road in the village.

I live in cornwall england and I LOVE where i live! I would never live anywhere else. I can see the sea from my bedroom window. It's like a 5 min drive to get to the beach. It's sunny, it's laid back, there's LOADS of fit tanned surfers/skaters who don't wear an awful lot. It's such a chilled out, peaceful way of life and everyone knows everyone else so there's always someone to hang out with, more often than not a huge group and you know everybody. If theres someone you don't know, you can just start chatting and from then on you can class them as your mates.

Meet me on gwithian for a surf in the morning, a picnic for lunch, some beach games and some more surfing in the afternoon, a bit of a sunbathe, a bbq for teatime, a bit more frolicking, and a big bonfire on the sand with beer and weed and fit boys and sexy girls in the evening, then we'll all stay in tents for the night and start again tomorrow. Welcome to my weekend!

I hate where I live. I live in a "middle class" suburbia where everyone washes the car and mows the lawn on Sunday morning and everyone tries to keep up with the Jonses.
I would move tomorrow if I could. I want to live in Glasgow, where the people are friendly, the streets are clean and there is more culture than you can shake a stick at.

I love where I live. We are 25 minutes from the coast and are surrounded by lovey countryside.
Loads of farm parks and animal parks for my kids to visit, schools in my village, beautiful 13th century church.
I am selling my house though! Staying in the village but downsizing as now we have two small children an I have given up work, we are not as well off as we were!

No! I bloody hate it,ok my little house and garden is nice but the PEOPLE!!!! Small minded, critical, false and superficial are the first adjectives that come to mind. Friendship is impossible, here in this part of Italy, there is a concept called "Bella Figura",essentially good posturing, you have to pretend to be someone you aren't in order to have friends. The logic escapes me,what kind of friendship is it if it's based on fiction? As for how I would change it,pack up my house and animals and head for the New Mexican desert !

I love the area I live in. The only thing I hate is the town where my children have to attend school. Small minded people with huge ego's. Nasty nasty vindictive students and parents. My oldest child couldn't wait to graduate and move on.
I would love to transfer my youngest to the school about ten miles away but I can't afford the tuition.

I love where I live (Kendal, England). It's very scenic. It's a small town surrounding by hills/mountians and lakes. Yet has a good transport network to get to major towns and cities in the North West of England. It has lots of history. It is really friendly, and has good shops, cafes, a small arthouse cinema/entertainment venue, a couple of castles, etc etc. Schools are good for children. I feel very safe here.
