Fans can be winded in such a way to rotate clockwise also. But a uniform pattern has been adopted to wind fans to rotate anticlockwise so as to avoid problems.

If some fans are manufactured to rotate clockwise and some others to rotate anticlockwise, one will have to be careful in selecting the blades of the fan. The blades are manufactured and packed separately by the manufactures.

This problem could have been overcome only by adopting a uniform pattern to manufacture fans to rotate anticlockwise. This could have been otherwise also. The uniform pattern to manufacture fans to rotate clockwise could also have been adopted.

The blades of a fan are bent a little bit downwards. So when it rotates anti-clock wise, the air hits the inclined portion of the blade and is forced downwards. This is how why the place becomes airy. If the blades had been inclined upwards then the fan would have rotated clock-wise.

Rotation of the motor depends upon 3 phases
R(red) , Y(Yellow) , B(Blue)
if u disturbs the order then it will surely rotate in other direction.

In case of fan it's 2 phase power supply & not 3 phase.
if u try to give reverse supply it will not start only.u will have to change inner circuit a little bit.
Fan is Capacitor start capacitor run induction motor.

But if u have observed the blades of the fan are not flat .They r tilted by 9 degrees to sweep the air.
Thus a correct direction of the fan is ACW.

It's just a matter of design. If you want to change the direction, then you need to change the angle of the blades to get the air in the correct direction (forward or backward). Have you seen fans which can blow air both forward and backward? These fans change their direction of rotation. So, it's just that way. If you want it to rotate in the other direction, you certainly can provided you cange the blade angle.

a fan always rotate anticlockwise because that is the direction it has to go in it is to push air at you. (seriously no joke) If a fan were to go clockwise it would just suck air towards it and you would not get breeze. (i have one of these fans that can spin both ways). I guess the clockwise spinning is used when the place is cold; to suck all the cold air around the room so to keep you warmer.

Hope i helped yuh.

The blades are so designed that the air is thrown downwards from the ceiling in that direction of rotation.

Do all fans rotate ACW?!
Never thought about direction, but it's how blades are mounted - to "push" air forwards as they spin, the section of blade entering air is always angled into the air to "catch" and then the other edge of the blade forces air out.
In proper description, I think this is hopeless, you really need to see diagram, but hopefully you might get idea what I'm trying to say!

because you keep looking at it from the same direction!

Walk around to the other side, and you will have an epiphany as you observe that it also rotates clockwise.

your observation of clockwise, and counter clockwise is only relevant to the direction upon which you view the fan while in motion.

It is for this very reason in which I realized that all matter energy is spherical, as with respect to three dimensions, every single object which appears to us as one dimensional with in our universe must have another side.

example draw a line with your pencil upon a piece of paper, now hold your paper in the air, now imagine that you can suspend your paper with your pencil line in mid air.

Now remove your paper from your pencil line, and walk around your pencil line which is suspended in mid air by force, and you will observe that you can view it from all angles, and you will quickly realize that what once appeared to be one dimensional, as it was only a line, now resides with in your conscious mind as the three dimensional object which it is, because you can observe it with respect to a 360 degree rotation curve.

There is truly no such a thing as flat my friend, and in a similar way, your fans perceived direction is only relevant to you with respect to how you look upon its motion.

P.S. I had to come back after checking my fan, and my fan turns clockwise when blowing at me, however just like I said above when viewing it from the back side my fan is then moving in a counter clockwise, or what you call anti clockwise direction.

only the angle of the blade design affects the direction of air flow with regard to the direction the fan turns.

Therefor some fans can turn counter clockwise while blowing air at you, and other fans like my fan can turn clockwise while blowing air at me.
